Admittedly though, France were very good. Non-stop barrage on the UK defense... I was thinking to myself during the 90th minute or so "how long can we keep this up for?" - not very.

Had to be the french too.....

Lets see if the fantasy football guys can come up with one to beat the germany win a few years back... Kuntz..... heh heh heh... BTW, he was a german player....

The biggest surprise was Greece, though.

Hmm. Dunno. After the zero goals from the world cup, and the first 90 minute goal drought, I wouldn't have been too optimistic.

I didn't think France was any good. They barely had any chances through out the game. IMO they were lucky.

But I did like the ending. Fantastic! I love it when it ends like that.

I thought that England were very un-cool during their defending session, and during the last couple of minutes play. The player that passed back to the goalie had a panic attack. Infact some of the players were working for France even though they didn't know it. You can be a great footballer, but you have to be strong mentally as well. Most of the players were not strong mentally.

That's why they kick little blown up animal skins around on grass pitches before jumping into communial baths together, instead of winning noble prizes.

Anyway that sucked, if we can conceed 2 goals after 90 minutes to end up losing the game we might as well go home before we get beaten by Croatia.

Sorry my English buddies, but if your press did'nt blow every single thing you do out of proportion, then europe would'nt be snickering up their jerseys right now - call it karma, poetic justice, whatever you like.
Football is not comming home, this is not 1966 - and sorry to say but England has very little chance of winning Euro2004, now if your pundits can learn to accept that we'd have a lot less arrogance around English football.

That was a quote from sky, and 8/1 isn't too good of odds. But i still don't like watchin France win, if anyone I want Italy to win, but that'd be an upset (specially cause they have denmark first).

Quite true - the team just isn't strong enough mentally to overcome tricky situations, and pass and shot accurately.
We'll be lucky to win the next few games really.

Quite honestly it wasnt a bad performance from England either, until the last 5 minutes. In my opinion Zidane's free-kick was pure brilliance, and the penalty was just a f*ck up by the guy who backpassed (cant remember who, was it Gerrard?).

Oh well, England dont have much chance anyway, the real important match is tomorrow

You can't blame the players, individually they were very good. The screw-up was the bench decision to take out Rooney, who was a brick wall to Zidane's every move. The defence had no job to do until Rooney was subbed.

I think rooney was subbed because of his tiredness and temper. He was already on a yellow and no point risking the next 2 group games.

Owen was ineffective so Vassell was a good replacement due to his pace.

I think Butt should have come on for Scholes rather than Hargreaves - Gerard would have been pushed to the left and never havfe been in a position to play a silly backpass. Such a shame from a great player.

1st Half Blinder
2nd Half Laid back on the fact they're ahead; that's exactly what lost us the World Cup

if games were only 45minutes long we'd definately do alot better lol

Hehe, meanwhile in Portugal, it was the English fans turn to choose a party game - Damn hooligans, 'Bah Engerland loose, me feel bad - must throw rock at nasty blue man with shield and helmet.'. And that's just the reactions from watching it on TV!.

Yup, that's what I was saying, just responding to that article Raven posted - I just find it funny how it's usually travelling fans who lower the tone - not the other way round . TBH I'm chuffed that the fans are behaving themselves in Portugal, makes life easier for any Brit travelling abroad.

What were the odds that Porto would have won the Champions League? Something like 40-1 I think.

Yes they can! A scottish team is always winning the SPL....

Heh, I remember watching a program a while back that said Scotland fully qualified for the World cup about 50 years ago, but declined the place because England were top of their qualifying group. Back in Wales we would sell our mams for the opportunity.

Eh? Italy winning wouldn't be an upset. They're second favourites.

England will get to the semi finals at least. We'll play Portugal or Spain in the next round and they're both crap.

i've not actually been following this, i tend not to follow it until england actually get further than qualifiers and such; but as i understand it... these matches = seeding for the next round no?
which if that's the case, we should thank France for beating us only slightly making goal dif's pretty small and placing us in a much easier group.

if not, meh ... we still got further than scotland, ireland and wales

I don't think there are seedings as such for the next round. Englands group winner plays second place in the Spain/Potugal/Russia/Greece group and Second plays first. Could be interesting - that other group is up for grabs - everyones got a good chance there.
