As, my coding skill are what you would call rubbish, I'm gonna start work on a nibbler game. If that goes well I might have a go at scorched earth ripoff.

Quote: "in the Competition game thread Rich said you may only Enter 1 game for each Catagory.
Thus 1 Game total."

I think your maths maybe a little off.
By my calculations that is 3 games total!
1 game x 3 catagories = 3 games

I am myself, so I will be entering your compo - what are the rules?

It isn't because if you read the competition rules, it notes that you may only enter a single catagory.

I think I will go for Scrotch Earth. Since that game was cool. But I will do 2d.
So this makes two compos I am entering.
Remakes.org

Okay Scraggle, explain this to me:

Quote: "Pick one of the game types above then set about making your own version of it in either DarkBASIC or DarkBASIC Professional."

That is from the competition overview...

Quote: "
Is it alright if we enter more than 1 game? (Because I could finish snake in a wekk ) "

1 entry per category, no more. And yes you could do snake in a week, but it wouldn't be a good enough version to win
That is from Rich in the competition thread...

How hard is it for you to understand what that means!

Wish I could, but i can't.The Remakes.org one i am doing it with a different lang. Plus the Dark basic one won't really be the original game version. My version is going to be wack out with weird stuff happening for no reason.

Apparently not as hard as it is for you to admit that what you said was not correct.

I have a feeling there's going to be a ton of FPS entries. So I think I'm going to do entry 1, Snake. Already got my idea in mind too.

I'm getting sick and tired of this BS from users like you. You know that every time you make a comment like this your breaking the AUP which obviously ALOT of people haven't read.
From now on whenever someone makes such comments they'll be reported... So piss off and leave me alone.

I'd like to do a OW - time crisis style, but I have absolutley no artistic flair and find making and animating models a long and tedious chore. I might invest in them Darkmatter packs - or I might just do a snake.

rules are up on http://developer.thegamecreators.com

general rule 1:

You may submit a maximum of 3 games into the competition, one game per category. Each game must adhere to all of these rules.

That's just stupid... he's changed it from what was originally up.
Should be 1 Entry, full stop.

How are they going to stop multiple prize winners? I might not be likely but still there is a chance that someone could win all three catagories.

I thought the whole idea of the catagories were to seperate people into thier skill levels... If you wanted to compete with the low-end or high-end even against what skill you are that was upto you, but now that just makes it pointless having 3 catagories for skill.

I think it's fine to allow 3 entries, I've entered a few compos - and folk that submit multiple entries tend not to place very highly. I mean making a gorgeous snake clone is something that an experienced DB'er could knock up over the weekend, but it's unlikely to place unless a fair amount of time is spent on new ideas and playability. For me there's so much more to do with Op Wolf and in the time available, sensible folk will concentrate on 1 strong entry rather than 3 weak ones.

Yeah, i know Van. It still means some people will think about several games and complete none, or like some people will mock up games for each catagory who can just pop out games.

Dunno just seems silly imo, a single title for a single catagory exactly how the original newletter stated. Meh!
Oh well...

I really don't see that it needs explaining. The above quote is what you yourself quoted.

1 entry per catagory
3 catagories

It isn't difficult is it?

Oh and incase you haven't see it .. here is a quote from the official rules:
Quote: "General Competition Rules
You may submit a maximum of 3 games into the competition, one game per category. Each game must adhere to all of these rules.
"

Does that explain it enough for you?

I take it you chose not to read the other quote from the official newsletter...
Rather selective reading that.

The official rules might *NOW* say you can make a game for each catagory, but the original outline very very clearly said you could pick only ONE catagory. Rich then followed up with only ONE game per catagory.

So if you can only have one game in a catagory and only allowed to enter one catagory, explain to me how you can deviate from that in the first place?

This was a simple pop at me once again... i think i'm going to report this too, cause this is getting very tiresome indeed.

While Raven and I don't always see eye to eye, this time I have to agree. The first edition of the rules very much looked like one entry per person. The revision does clear that up. That's fine by me since I know I'll be helping my son with his own entry into the contest. This way, I can have one individual entry and one team in another category without worry.

I would just like to state that there was no first version of the RULES posted anywhere. Raven is right in the sense that we did originally say in the newsletter "pick one game type", but we did also say that the rules list would be available on the 31st of July (which it was) and until they are posted, it was all subject to change based on feedback in the forum threads.

So that is what we did. Enough people wanted to enter more than one entry, so we have allowed for that. Just like people wanted different weights on the point allocation, we changed that too. After all of the suggestions were listened to we drew up the rules list.

What was published in the rules list were the only rules ever published and are now the standard ones to adhere to. That is another reason why it said the competition officially started on the 31st.

No more discussion relating to this needs to take place.
