Thats another thing, can we use wap on the nec e313? i've tried the go to site option but its always says couldn't connect.

Reading this thread, I get the impression that all of these tools just use Java to get the code on to the mobile platform. None of them are actually using the OO capabilities of Java, they are turning it into a procedural language.

At which point, the question is...why use a 3rd generation language to churn out Java, when you could just use Java?

DB is fantastic, it wraps all the complexities up into manageable commands. But wrapping Java up into basic commands is nonsensical...or have I missed the point here?

There is that argument, but:

1). More people know the BASIC syntax than Java, and all it's packages etc
2). Omega Basic, like DarkBasic already has all the advanced functions written, you have direct access to methods which may take days to write in standard Java.
3). Omega Basic is creating OO code from your Basic code; alot of people do not know what OO is, and so like what DB does, it is hidden from the user.
4). Omega Basic is keeping things simple, I would hazard a guess that a lot of people on these forums do not know any other language than DB, because either they want to stay with an easy language or code Java/C++ at work and so don't want to use it as a hobby language.

That's the bit that I'm trying to get to the bottom of!

Is it creating OO code, or is it just creating classes? There's a big difference. Are we talking implementation, extending classes, interfaces, abstraction, blah blah blah....

I don't see it myself. That's why I have an issue with Java products claiming to be OO, when they are just Java. It's like the cornet, without the ice cream.
