Hi,

I was just browsing the DB site looking for some help,ideas,etc and decided to check out the forums. You guys really seem to be serious about working together and getting something done. For me, this is a great surprise as I have been working on a collaboration to create a comic series for the past 2 months that hasn't gone very far(anywhere really). I got DBLite for Xmas and have been reading up on it and trying my best to learn the basics. However, although I do understand the tutorials in DB I'm not quite sure how to put it all together to make a game. If you guys want, I can help you with your art,char design, graphics,etc. I've taken a few art classes in HS and have always been told I should be designing games, drawing cartoons, etc instead of studying law =P well let me know if you need any help...I don't expect to be paid. Only thing I want is to be recognized for my work and learn more about programming. Reply asap. Take it ez

slb2deuce, I used to be sceptical on how DB worked also, but it makes more sense the more you read on it. I think your more than welcome to join us. Is he in Parallex though, xxxpetratxxx?

Yeah, I haven't been this serious in games since a long while, designing my first game (Power Pups, I like dogs). Man, I had a team working on designs and stuff until I moved, the GA makes a fresh and more realistic start to it again.

I think when we're making our games, we take turns on announcing our projects. ZIXON comes first, obviously, then we vote on who goes next.

It's nice to know we're making an impression on the community.

great. i checked out your site kenzenray and it looks great. what did you use to make the zixon advertisment/logo on your page? in order to create my own graphics i need some kind of 3D graphics program that works with DB? If so, any suggestions on a good one? Let me know and I'll run out and pick it up from the store asap.

Thanks for appreciating my logo.

It was made with 3d Studio Max 5 and Adobe PhotoShop 7

The actual site is supposd to be 100 times better than this. It has downloads, User Login and Forums, but I am unable to host it yet.

Any updates on ZIXON, I will update in this site itself.

Hi GameAlliance ,

My GOD ! This Forum is suddenly beginning to get a bit dry isnt it. There arent many people viewing it anylonger. Now thats because theres is not enough postings. Well, I'd like to give one of mine.

Regarding the development of ZIXON !

Anybody is interested in submitting original sprites of spaceships,motherships, aliens e.t.c It will be very helpful.

A simple menu for the Game is now on the making. We should finish the first game soon. I guess for the first 2 or 3 levels which involves only 2D we can develop in DarkBasic since it has the facility of SCROLLING TEXTURE BACKDROP which is not (directly) available in DBPRO. But from the succeeding level we can stick to DBPRO.

Just tell me what you think !

Names for charachters required.

Names for
[1] Alien Races
[2] Aliens
[3] The Main Alien
[4] ZIXON's Girl Friend (which will come later in the story)
[5] Space Vehicles (of Both THE HUMANS and THE TYRANS)

Why do I always say ORIGINAL ?

Well you see, ZIXON is going to be a long-term project. We must all aim to make it the best game possible using DarkBasic(&PRO). After making the game we should not get criticism for stealing sprites and music. Hence for all these reasons lets create stuffs of our own.

MUSIC Wanted !

We need two music pieces for -

[1] A background MUSIC for the opening game menu
[2] MUSIC for the first level

Once again, let the music be of your own composition. It can be either in MP3 or MIDI.
I am not sure how we can make owr own music. I heard there are some softwares for that, but they didnt seem to be very useful. Do you guys have any ideas .... well ... if I dont get any submissions for music - my friend has a KEYBOARD which has a direct facility to store in MIDI format (but he is a bit inaccesible now...thats why I am asking you all first).

Ya know that if we would just post all of our mesaages in a single box insted of post a new one for each sentance this forun would olny be about 4 pages long. Anyway the music thing will be tough, that's always the hardest part, if your not a musicain that is. If anyone here knows of a desent music program, please let us in on it. So far the only thing I've done of any worth is a Trance on MTV MG 2 on the PS2.

How r things going ! Its nice to see active participation on the forums recently. I am still to order DBPRO (Saving up for it).

xxxPetratxxx, is having the problem with name of my game, let me say someting about that. His intentions of comming up with better names is very nice, since he is showing is interest in the development of this game. I am sorry xxxpetratxxx, lot of work is been going on already in ZIXON, and we are too late for changes.

The name ZIXON, is an original on. It doesnt have any meaning as such. And it contains attractive charachters like 'Z' and 'X' which will form great animation logo sequences in future. It is also simple and majestic to pronounce (as far as I feel). Anyway ... thanks for your inputs.

I should not fail to mention and appreciate the efforts contributed by
'Hito Hentai'

He has been regularly enthusiastic in this ZIXON Project. He has already submitted design of ZIXON's appearance. Although its a bit of Japenese type, the artwork is excellent. In a week or 2, 3D modelling of ZIXON charachters, will begin and I will soon release them.
