I remember the early text adventures. The parsers ony excepted two words. Part of the challenge was getting the computer to understand what you wanna do. The hobbit was, IMHO, the best text adventure on the speccy 48k.
Then came 'The Pawn' (speccy 128k, Amiga 500, Atari ST) and this game absolutely rocked. In one part of the game I came to a shed with an empty plant pot. There was also an uprooted pot plant. I typed in:
PLANT THE POT PLANT IN THE PLANT POT.
And it did it, saying "The plant is much happier now"


The word "Gullible" cannot be found in any English Dictionary.

If you want a good starting visual basic mud.. here's a link to one.

Absolutely great for intermediate coders. You will need to know some visual basic to use this, but not -alot-.

[Edit - It is pretty much completely bareboned.. But very easy to expand on. I'll be giving my project which i did awhile ago to the owner of the original mud to post on that site aswell once i get a chance. Added the commands GRIN, SMILE, NOD, YELL, TELEPORT, TRANSFER, SCA, SETSCORE, ME, STRIKE, RESPAWN, SPANK, SING, WHISPER, TELL, GOTO, DEMORT, WIZNET, INVIS, GUIDE, JOIN(UPDATED), SNOOP, ', `, WEAR, REMOVE]
