It is finally finished. This is what I consider to be the last update for Firewall, unless there are some major bugs found. I have even bought a domain name and I am finally all ready to publish my game. Here is my new website:

http://www.boltsoftwaregames.com

Here are some of the new updates:
-Brand new adrenaline-pumping music
-All new arena with many powerups
-Some computer AI upgrades, as usual

Well, it is a lot bigger than it used to be, thanks to all the new music. Hopefully you guys can still download it and test it out. If it is fairly bug free I will show it to my two possible publishing companies right away. I just want to finish this...

Here are some new screenshots:

http://www.boltsoftwaregames.com/screen3.jpg

http://www.boltsoftwaregames.com/screen5.jpg

There are more on my new website

So try out the final Firewall demo and tell me what you think. Thanks everyone

Beautiful!

Is there a new full-version available that us Beta testers can get our grubby hands on?
If so, email us... I've been waiting ages to have a bash at the new arena! *sniffle*

Great job on the updates, and the new music. And I hope that after Bug testing, your publishers grab at it as fast as I would

Jess.

Yeah, there will be a beta version very soon. I think I will upload it tonight actually.

I'm not going to say anything specific, but I have just been offered a very nice publishing deal

I have been notified of a crash upon playing it for the first time and playing in the battle mode...anyone else get a crash?

Hi Bolt:

The only problem's I've ever had with your game are to do with (ironically) the Windows firewall. You already know about that though... Apart from that, plain sailing!

29mb is a bit steep to justify downloading it again frankly, but I loved the last version. It's the kind of game that seems easy at first, but then isn't...

Kudos for sticking at one thing and doing it properly

Thanks Drew.

I guess I could upload a version with less music, that would make it much smaller...

29mb is a good size for an indi game demo I think. Best of luck getting published man, you've got a really fantastic game here !

It is a perilous occupation for TGC to post anything by way of a promise, as the words get etched in indestructable marble for all time.

This is a great game that proves the full capability of DBPro!
The wuestion I'm wondering is how you go about contacting people to see if they publish your game?

Thank you everyone

@ dj chainz : Actually, I used DB Classic to write this... About the publishers, I wrote emails to 3 companies about publishing my game. 1 didn't respond, and the other two companies were waiting for a full version to be complete. However, in the meantime, I was contacted by two other publishing companies who saw my game on forums. I was considering the first company, until I got the email from the second company and decided to go with them on the spot. When you are asking companies if they are interested in publishing your game, just remember to be very proffesional and don't sound too impatient

I know that many other people on these forums deserve to get their games published as well, good luck to all of you with your games!

Great Bolt, can't wait to see it published, real nice of you to give all the beta testers one last Beta, which as i'm assuming either is or is very close to what will be released but much better and cleaner than the last one, only thing being that I I've hit escape to many times to try to get out of something only to have it auto quit, might look into that but other than that: Great job, you've worked hard and deserve to have your game published!

I'd give it a 5/5 star rating:

Thanks CPU

Actually, due to an unexpected announcement from my modeler, there will probably be one more beta version next week...but it won't be too much different so it won't require a whole lot of testing.

@ Shadows of Emptiness: Yeah, that computer doesn't sound like it can handle my game...the video especially. I hope you can get it working on some computer though so you can try it out. Thanks for the compliments.

Update

I have released another demo...I really think this is the last one now. There is a new arena model, I have fixed the music that was clipping, made a new loading animation model, and made looking smoother in the arena.

You can download it from my website, just click on my sig below to go to my website. If you have any questions, just post them here or on my forum.

Now I have to go finish up the beta version...

That is graphically OUTSTANDING! Especially for DBC. I didn't even know DBP was that good. Everything is just perfect. Best non-FPS I have seen since I joined the community.

I played the 3.5 demo, and wow. All the models now look so nice and shiny. Whereas previous versions kind of killed my computer, 3.5 ran like a breeze. Good luck with sales man.

Great Game!...I played the v3.5 demo, simply amazing.

It does crash to windows, too frequently.
In the middle of playing, every few games.
Or after surfing the web, ir crashes every time.
After clicking proceed to load the game, the loading bolt shows then immediately crashes - System Error - Severe Exception!, click OK.

My system:
Asus A7M266D - Dual Processor motherboard
AMD 1800+ (1.533GHz) x 2
1 Gig RAM
Asus V8200 64 Meg Video Card (gForce3 Ti200)
Windows XP Pro - SP1

If you have new version you want me to test for crashing, which I can repeat with the 3.5 version, just let me know.

The severe exception error is due to a lack of memory, maybe not the main system memory, but somewhere... I can't really figure it out, but it works after rebooting.

Glad you like the game, thanks for your bug report.

Good news! I think I fixed the severe exception once and for all. I was using a mipmap for one of the larger objects in the game, and once I removed the mipmap it doesn't seem to quit anymore. Hopefully it won't give severe exceptions anywhere else in the program. I will be releasing a new demo in a few days with the fix.

I will sure let you know if you fixed the severe exception problem.
I can crash it any time I want to, especially when I DON'T want to.
You sure couldn't have released it that way, it should never crash like that.

I was going to tell you to make sure you removed all the images from the intro screens before you loaded the main game images.

Looking forward to the new version! - Great Game!

Alright, I have uploaded the new version with the severe exception fix. I would appreciate it if everyone would tell me if they get a severe exception, I think it should all be fixed. Just a couple other minor fixes, they are posted on the features section of the website.

I have sent a final copy to my publisher, so it should be ready for purchase very soon, I'll keep you all posted.

I am curious though, is anyone actually considering buying it? I just want to know how many I could actually sell...

TMonkey,
Assuming you mean the Explosion cam, you can turn that off in the options

Bolt,
Even though I already have the full version ( being a Beta Tester and all ), I may very well buy it simply to give you the money for such a great game But, don't hold me to it

Jess.

It shouldn't be, I didn't do any FTP stuff at all. I think that was just a coincedence. Does it happen every time, and if so, does the game still run?

I rebooted and it went away, as I was setting up fedora servers last night, I prob left something running.

And your program just triggered it somehow.

Sorry.

My only complaint with teh game bolt, is that it ran slow on my computer...so the only thing i think you could do to improve it is optomize it some more...(not sure if that's possible, but if you haven't looked at that yet then i suggest you do)

Besides that though it's come along quite nicely!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the support.

Bill: The publisher is in the UK, but it will only be sold on the web, even though I am in the US.

Peter: I optomized pretty much everything I could think of, I spent a lot of time on that a few months ago. Did you try turning down the effect levels and the screen resolution? That will help a lot.

Update: The full version of Firewall should be available within a week!

Slight problem on that page : It says required hard disk space 12Mb, and the thing itself is 33. That looks like a terrible compression system...

Anyhow, you've done well to get the gamecreators themselves to publish it. Good luck on sales.
