Hiya, last week of the puzzle compo - just wondering how ya'll were doing?, who's entering this one?, who's gone bald because of it?

Sorta wrapping up my entry this week so I should actually get to enter this one (unlike the last effort which is still WIP).

Hope it's going well Van!
I'm not entering, but it's going to be a good compo!

Mines been entered, and to use inappropriate American parlence, you'll all be owned, noobed, pawned and totally out-done and out-classed. By moi, I should add.

I would have loved to enter, but I know just how time these things take up. So I decided to give it a miss this time. Besides, I'm still playing with my prizes from the last compo

I have to admit I did tinker with an idea at one stage, though

Good luck to all those who are entering. Is there going to be an easy way to view & download the entries, or do we have to pick them out of the Program Announcements?

If I can finish off my WIP, then I'm in...
I really left it to the last minute, though

Oh well, either way, I'm entering something, even if it's only the shell of a half-finished game

Good-luck to everyone!

At least you guys are brave enough to make a WIP post - I haven't even done that!.

That's 3 mods so far entering this compo, I feel a forfeit should be be setup for the mod that scores the least - like they have to give themselves a womans name for a day, or moderate the forum while completely naked.

My game is like gently removing the crusty sleep from ones eye using the angry end of a rabid ferret.

Good luck to everyone except the mods!

P.S. Van-B would like to appologise for the quality of his recent posts, it's 60 degrees in the fridge right now, and I've not sleeped.

Looking real bad for me. Had major work project to do over last couple of months and been working all hours possible and the heat in London does not help things either. Hopefully today is last day of contract and things will calm down a bit and I can get some serious coding done but clients have a bad habit of asking for stuff when you don't want them to.

I've already got the entire game engine done and the level editor is finished but still got no menus, sounds, or levels designed yet.

Still got a week to go including a weekend I may sacrifice to the cause, so maybe I'll pull out all the stops.

Yet again I've said I'd enter but failed to do so. That must make 3 times I've done that.

Big congrats and good luck to everyone who actually managed to enter something.

At the start, I was determined to enter this compo. Got a huge amount of work done on it, many many hours of work. In fact, I used the 50% complete project for a school project presentation and got 100% but alas, i did not back up my work. Computer got invaded and a full format was inevitable. After everything was back up and running, I decided I might still be able to at least start over and get a crappy entry done... but my computer did not cooperate and won't even run dbp properly anymore. So in the end, the determination from the start is gone and I shall not enter. Maybe another day, another compo, another comp, i shall enter.

I'm in ... I haven't submitted it yet because I am having a DirectX conflict of some kind which means that it only runs on a few computers.

It will however compile on any. So I will probably include the source and media so that anyone can run it ... assuming, of course, that I can't figure out the conflict before deadline.

[Edit] I've just tried AtomZ and I can happily announce that whilst it is not a bad game mine is by far superior!

I would have loved to have entered, but alas, I'm much too busy with finishing up my old job and starting my new one.

At first I had a cool prototype going for FireTris, and then I recoded my 3D ROBOI engine, but alas I haven't touched DBP code since May. Way too long, but hopefully I'll have time this weekend to finish FireTris for the compo.

Nooooo! There is no excuse these days. USB drives cost next to nothing, you can even write a Winzip command line file to zip and copy everything to your USB drive for you at the click of a button.

I feel for you, it's hapened to me in the past. Hopefully it will push you into having some kind of backup system from now on.

That's a shame Jess, you know for a fact that the minute the deadline is over - the answer will materialise .

I've been kinda lucky, 'cos my internet connection at home is bust (I broked it myself trying to change ISP's and now it won't let me install TCP/IP). So that's given me nothing much to do except code (and worry about uploading the damn thing!)

Well I tried uploading, but it failed several times.
So I just connected as anonymous with my email as password, and did only slide my zip onto "incoming". But I would like to be sure it worked.

I've been working on Delphi projects recently, so I've been away from the DB scene a while.

Got to find out about the competition at the end of June and thought I'd have a bash at it!

Very ropey but working version up and running but don't think I'll have time to make it any less ropey by Monday!

But ropey or not... it's going in!

Are any of you supplying d/l links for others to test your games out or are you keeping them secret until the last minute?

Well I ended running into a bunch of problems so I couldn't enter.
Mine was going to be kind of like meteos I have even got a DS style gui for it. For what I had planned to do I'd need a week minium. So that screws me over.

Did you all get finished, are you soooo tired now, are you giddy?

I was ill at the weekend, I'm glad I decided not to enter, it would have been a disaster for me.

Batvink are you sure you did'nt enter, you sure sound like you've been in front of your PC for longer than is healthy .

I got done diddy done diddly un-done diddly-un yesterday - finishing early is very unusual for me .

Good luck all, this has certainly been a challenging little compo, glad I took part.

I'm dropping out I'm afraid. Work has been priority over last few months and specially over last few weeks. The weather has also taken it's toll on me as London is like living in an oven at the minute.

Shame really as a lot of the game is finished, but still no sounds, menus or levels. Coming up with a lot of fiendish levels needs a lot of planning itself.

I could spend a few hours hours tonight bodging something together but would rather release game properly at a later date.

Good luck everyone else.

Yup im in and I used DarkSDK. My game would of been impossiable in dbp - I love the darksdk. Usually when you would have to spend a few hours hunting forums for a dll and hope it does the task you want well and for free, now with darksdk you just click file > new > cpp source file and write your own damn addon XD

This is going to be a close competition for sure. Theres some mighty fine entries, i think everyone should be proud of their work Just wish I had entered sooner! I feel like im lagging behind everyone because of it
