Well I found the reason to why my image didn't show on page one of this thread... It's placed on a Yahoo Group server and you have to be a member and loged-in to see it ... I'll move it to my own homepage and post it again in a few minutes....

Here it is. It's not much.
You can't see the effects on this screener (described below)... :-(

The background is in 2 layers in 2 different colors (red/blue), and is going around in circles (just like the menu in Serious Sam).
The ball underneath the "!" in the title is spinning.
The menuitems are waving.
The mouse cursor is holowed.

There is only one problem...
In the upper left corner is the framerate... IT'S TO DAMN SLOW. I used the sync rate 0 command, and get around 30 frames per second on this computer:
AMD 1400
256 MB SD (I think)
gForce 2 MX400

My problem with colision is not a big one, it's jest my style of programming that is getting in the way. I iron it out this weekend. No biggie. My game is about 80% done.

Here is the game I started :

http://www.geocities.com/pugh2317/ESCTHEBALLS.zip

I did it one night on duty. (As I am in the Army)

but the problem is I just made it up.

I don't care if I win or not. Its the taking part that counts but I only used ASCII Charactors for Graphics and a few Coloured pixels. So it is retro.

I used my own collison routine but it would be helpful if some1 (Raven maybe?) could show me the correct calculation for 2D and 3d Collision. As I only checked each four corners and top mid bot mid left mid and right mid of the balls using the POINT commond It took me about 5- 7 hours to code.

I like to code a lot but I have a problem with my PC at home. It has tons of games on it with distract my big style from coding.

Detials:

Movement

Cursor keys

Point Of Game:

?

The balls bonce of each other WOW!

Tell me what you think!

The Universe has infinate possibilities. So do YOU!

this games coming on fine ^_^ like the way you've done the models, especially the main man himself mario (which i think u oughta change his name to something else like kario etc ) yeah the fire mario was cool too! with all the fire trail fx and stuff!

this pic is kinda plain 'cus theres no background! the creatures on the floor and mario are cool, the ground texture/shadows are cool to. all you need is maybe a castle or pipe or something in the backgound! then that's about it. To make it even better you could use fire mario and instead and make hime throw some fire balls with neat fx then you'd be sorted ^_^ cool anyways

Here's a pic from HYper-kart. Unfortunately u cannot set
the screen depth to 8 bit so the retro look is put in by psp(reduce depth). If patch 4 fixes this, i will set depth to 8.

My version of battlezone was started today, and so far I have a controllable player tank and enemy AI. Like the original, the whole thing is vectors (wireframe), but unlike the original it is true 3D, you get a 3rd person perspective of your own tank, and there are nice controls. The tank is steered using the arrow keys, and the turret is operated independently using the mouse. The shells obey the proper laws of gravity. All the models are being made in anim8or. Here's a screenshot, what do you think?

The wireframe effect looks nicer in motion than it does in the still. I'm going with the wireframe because it looks more retro than fully textured 3D, plus I'm rubbish at texturing. Bear in mind I had to make the tank models in anim8or with my limited modelling skills. I'm just wondering how much like the original should it be? The original had no ground, so I've left that out. The scoring, lives and radar have yet to be implemented.

It's being made in DBC, because I am having problems with DBPro at the moment.

yeah i remember this game, your looks just like the original coming on well i see and yeah, it'll be good if you didn't texture the models and left them as they are, make it look and feel a lot more retro nice work!

Hey just posting a screen shot. After finally trying more than 10 collision techniques I came up with a algorithm that should handle anything you throw at the engine. 5 nights of nothing but math. Thought I'd post a picture to show that I am really working on something.

Comments are welcome of course.
