My dad was thinking about replacing his company's logo with a 3d version of it so he asked me to give it a try.

I couldn't find a very good example of the orignal anywhere except this one which is very small:

EDIT on the final image I am going to blur out those hard edges on the hat

C&C welcome...

few things to make it more realistic looking,

you need to make like 4x the ammount of keys as it looks like a whack a mole game atm, the fingers need to look less static looking right now the person looks like there getting electrocuted,

the organ should have more shape to it currently it looks like a rectangle with rounded edges.

the person could do with a texture, or perhaps a more detailed one, like seams in the robe and maybe more defined creaces, the clothes look like they should be more baggy asif they were draoped over the persona arms and legs. the organ pipes look pretty much correct maybe some flaws in the texture so it doesnt look like a perfect just moulded pipe.

dont get me wrong its nice but if you want it to truley look more professional then you should follow some of my pointers.

I think it looks nice, but the cap looks a bit weird.

Update:

Thanks for the comments. I fixed the fingers and added some more color to his skin, along with a subtle bump map to the robe. Also, as I said this is being modelled after the current 2d image which has that number of keys. This is a 16th century organ, which has very few large blocky keys that one plays with his entire hand instead of one finger. I also changed the cap a bit.

I think it needs detail too but it is supposed to resemble the concept almost exactly
Now he told me that he wants it to be a rotating gif so im working on that.

i understand you want to depict the actual organ as closely as possible but the fact is an old organ like that doesnt look very nice, so i dont think anyones gonna say hey that organ looks better than the real one.

im afraid I don't understand what you mean. I rendered the movie as 100 seperate tgas, then I opened it in GIFfun, which converts it to a gif. However the program doesn't appear to have any way of changing the quality settings :/

Problem is I don't have anything that converts movie files to gif files.

Capture about 30 pictures of it, each a little more rotated. Get flash, and insert each picutre into the Keyframes That would work, ubt it would be too hard, and would turn out kinda bad...

Here is the new version. I downloaded graphics converter trial, batch converted the files to gif, and then the animated gif was optimized correctly for the right colors.

Thanks all

I would prefer to see it animating alot more smoothly. I dont know how your program does it, but in a program i use for gifs there is an option to set the hold for each frame (how long its displayed for) - it seems on yours to be a bit long which makes it seem slow at best and a little jerky. Would personally remove any delay between frames and have a nice smooth, constant, animation ^^

maybe you could animate him playing the organ as he's spinning, that would look nicer

i suppose having him play it would be nice, but you gotta make sure the anim looks notural and doesnt look like its looping which is a hard thing to master.
