Here's a render of two floppies I created in Cinema 4D. I know it's a bit random, but hey! Any comments/suggestions are more than welcome.

Nice looking. Now be a little modern and model some USB memory drives.

yeh they are good! Just one thing to say... it may be me... but it looks as if the blue floppy disk is floating. Perhaps use Hard shadows instead of soft... and add 2more lights. Or render with Radiosity. But still very good!!!

I agree with add, floating disks, but you shouldn't have to change to hard shadows, they're ugly in 3D renders, how about area instead, supposed to be better than both

Thanks for the comments,
I think it must be the shadow type, because the disks are actually touching each other - I'll experiment with area shadows.

although darker, I agree it look better, then again it would as area lights are higher quality lights

I believe he would be able to. And even if its disputable, why would they waste their time punishing him? He's not making any profit off of using their name, at most its like a beautiful 3d advert...

Well if you look you'll see that the floppy disk isn't just a box with a texture slapped on, rather all the parts such as the metal slider, the disk inside were all modelled seperately and stuck together. Also, there are circular bits cut out and the text which is engraved on the metal slider part adds a significant number of polys. This all adds to the realism on the final render.

Actually, with the detail level on the highest setting, one of the above floppies is about 50k polygons
