Note: I did not make this game "Flindiana" did. I was in charge of 2D and 3D art but he did all the programming (I uploaded it because i have the better internet connection)

Also, many thanks go to Hawkeye for the awesome music he made us!

We just finished Pak Person 3D last night and entered it into the "GameDev.net Four Elements IV: Robots, Pirates, Ninjas, and Zombies" competition. We decided to include all 4 elements in a pac man style game. (yes that was all four elements )

A Pirate level:

A Robot level:

A Zombie level:

Here's a description/instructions by Flindiana.

"Game Controls:
1 & 2 keys: view control
cursor keys: you control
shift: hide maze
space bar: jump
control key: skip level

Game Overview:
Eat all of the pellets, while avoiding the scary robots of death.
The total number of pellets and the number of pellets you have eaten appear in the
upper left corner of the screen. Below them appears your score, and below that your lives.
When you win, a victory screen comes up and when you hit a key the game exits.
And if you lose all your lives, then you see a defeat screen and when you hit a key the game exits.
You can jump over ghosts.
If a floor is mostly a hole, then it will disappear after you walk over it. The apple that
probably appears twice, in front of the ghost home, is a bonus. eat it. there will be elevators
that you can ride on: but they got buggy 2.5 hours before teh deadline, and I didn't want to have to fix them, so i cut them out.
when you die, you will see a little cut scene of you dying; this is perfectly normal, and not an aberration.

Ghost Rogue Gallery:
Robots: slightly slower then average, have no special powers.
Ninjas: slightly faster then average, will intercept you in mid air if you attempt to jump over them
Pirates: average speed, will occasionally drink rum, run around at double speed then fall asleep for awhile.
Zombies: average speed, you can't eat them, if you eat a power pellet you can walk through them though.

Yet to Come:
elevators, multi player, cool credits, and maybe some other stuffs."

Thanks for looking!

Looks very nice! I'll download tomorrow when I have time.

Edit- Pretty cool! The jumping was a wierd because he went into the floor for a second before returning to the ground, but otherwise pretty good!

@bizar Guy: Yeah, I noticed that, but after trying over and over and over again to fix it, for like an hour straight, I decided it was minor enough to let go.

Any one else have any more specific feedback?

I'll be honest. The game's quality was very mixed.

Certain aspects (the majority of the game ) were superb. The ideas for the game are nice, the pirate movement struck me as genius. The death sequences were also a great surprise. Have a very nice game there.

However, certain aspects of the game detract from it. The enemies didn't seem to acknowledge the player's location at all. To be brutally honest, the enemies seem to destroy the game. They moved around, ignoring the player, and have no impact on the game... until near the end of a level. They had a tendancy to end up guarding a couple of pills. If you don't have any powerups left on the map, you get stuck being unable to grab the pills without the collision nabbing you. There is a solution to this, that will fix the game completely raising it to very high standards. Get some path finding for the enemies and the game will be improved incredibly.

Other than that, there was a crash at the end and a crash (array access out of bounds) trying to access the warps. The jumping has already been mentioned.

Great game overall Just get some pathfinding on it

EDIT:

The nature of teh music was thouroughly pwnistic.

Simple... yet fun!

Awww, no comments of the pwnistic nature of teh music?

*agrees with robocat* the pathfinding was extremely off... they just bounced off two walls, never turned or anything. That, and they wouldn't unghost themselves when the pill effects wore off. Trifle annoying

hehe, i blame all the bad ghost AI on "flindiana", he was the programmer after all

oh, btw the game is supposed to end at that end screen anyway, so although the crash is bad, it doesn't really effect the gameplay (unlike the crash when you jump into a portal )

Also, you included a crash_on_somedate.txt in the rar which kinda makes the player think "oh dear". Just delete the file and recompress.

Thanks for the feedback! And about the ghosts...I swear they were working better until really recently. And the teleport glitch happens not on my computer.
