Hello

Natty's Escape


The first funny episode of Natty's adventures: control a cute female cat. She has a powerful
weapon (and many types of bullets). Your objective is just to exit the pyramid you are stuck in..
It is a modern pyramid with machines, lasers and crazy computers.. Simple, but there
is a trouble with the teleporter: you need to get five stars to activate it.. you get
one star for each boss you defeat.. There are five teleporters in five different worlds
(do I need to say you're gonna pass through them? )
The 5th teleporter (damn it) is the one that is outside the pyramid (earth)
Natty is stuck there because the pyramid's computer was teleporting monsters from
those planets to earth.. As a detective, she entered in the pyramid to shut down the computer,
but an accident happened and the stars were teleported to those planets.. Now she is in need
of your help


The game:
-Control Natty, run, jump and fire around;
-Get new types of bullets for your weapon;
-Collect gems;
-Kill many annoying monsters;
-Think hard on puzzles and difficult goals;
-Some power-ups will make the game more funny..

The codes - ~450 lines of code.
_Character control = 46 lines;
_Main menu = will be about ~90 lines;
_Level editor = ~160 lines so far.

The story line sounds pretty good. From the way the level design looks in your screen shot I'd say you're doing good so far on this project, keep posting more.

Yep.. It is possible to post much more stuff.. I can't wait to finish the main level (which
is the most complex one), and start making all of the action, drawing and programming
the cool things.. you know: break boxes, collect power-ups, collect diamonds, jump to platforms,
jump holes, water, kill the stupid enemies, use many types of bullets etc etc..

So I came alone for a while to learn Newton

Well.. almost enough knowledge to make a 3rd person game..
So going now to convert the engine (still in time) to Newton Physics..

btw.. The main level is fully designed..
So I'll stop working on it (missing some textures, but I'll not hurry up)..

I can start making the cool things now..
Everything is happening in the due time..

Today I worked for 2 hours on Natty's Escape:

_ Improved Textures + more textures;
_ Modelled diamond's base (five colors);
_ Modelled heart (in-game simble of health);
_ It is being cool to get more smoothness from Newton

I just love physics

hmmm..
I need to make more basic things before implementing an official test..
I also need to model the basic gun, which supports many bullets..

After that, I will start making tiles for the forest levels..
So I think a can show a demo before november first ^^

Will it be an adventure or a JNR ?

I think the game sounds pretty cool. It is simple enough and has lots of elements of clasic games so you know what you are in for (for the most part.)

The level design looks good, and the model is cute

By the way.. I will be updating this thread soon.. I need just to get the max of softness
from Newton..
I have the gems, the hear and her weapon..
Tomorrow I will start making the forest tiles for the green levels..

I made a little progress today.. 2 new screenshots of my work were posted (2nd post):
_ The small stars are used to activate the teleporters;
_ Collect the gems to get more points and extra levels;
_ The red heart increases your health by 10%;
_ The blue heart increases your health by 2% (while some seconds);
_ The coin is equal to one life;

Finished almost a half of the items to collect..

Hello!

Posted a screenshot with few objects that I'll use to create the "Cacuna Forest" levels..
(2nd post)

And that health bar will keep the same aspect of previous.. (few details)..

I'm currently working on the texture for the weapon..

I did draw the bullets on paper already.. Now it is left to draw them 3D and to apply textures..

The the bug with angles has been reduced.

I was working on a physics starter kit with the extraordinary Newton dll..

well..
Just finished it

Now all I need to do is to draw the objects and place them in the 3D space, and *click*..
Newton is working with ease for me now..

by the way.. I fixed the angle bug.. (that's much more smooth now)..

hmm..
I am going to draw more objects tomorrow..
I need to get out now.. missing the real world

Hello..

Today and yesterday: Created 5 new dudes, the basics for main menu and some sounds..
I worked on Cammy and Jubbo as well.. and improved Natty's texture..
Modelled 4 more tiles for Cacuna Forest stages.

The total progress is about 15% yet.. so this is not that interesting..

oh.. And I am plaining to release a demo video as soon as I possible..
I think that you guys would not like to test a 15% of progress game..

News are comming soon..

hmmm.. general features:
_ Flexible entity positioning;
_ Easy entity's data changing;
_ Easy camera control;
_ User's models support;
_ Save and load/edit worlds;
_ Easy physics system;
_ Easy collision map editor;
_ Authomatic collision map editor (is not going to be that accurate);
_ Load the level with few clicks into the game (!!BATTLE MODE!!)...

maybe I think about working on new features later

I will set my focus on this game.. because my other game is too complex (years of work)..

Hello.


The schools are killing me.. I have so many ideas, but I am so busy these days
Started working about 3 hours ago.. did draw some things on paper (before converting to 3D)..
My job for today is, at least, finish the city, which is very important for the
intro movie and the main menu..

^^ I hope I can update my progress.. I have lost many hours of work
And release a demo for november, of course..

Bad news..
I found a strange bug in my code and just finished the re-write of almost a half of it..
The engine is working fine again..
I will delay the demo release more than I though I was going to..
Why?
Well.. I don't wanna make that very low quality game anymore.. I'm working harder, as I said before,
because I just can't take a look at a crappy stuff created by me..

So I feel like I must to make a funny game.. ^^

I improved the city a little bit today.. There are many things to add/improve yet.

Yesterday I worked on the character setUp system:
The animations and the character control will run more stable..

I'm working hard on the basic things.. 'cause I don't wanna have problems with them futurelly..

As you can see on the picture, the animations will use geometric deformation..
Because I think it looks much more clean

Hello people!


I gave a drastic break in the development of this game..
(erm.. my english is crap )
I was out to learn more about the programming language that I'm gonna move on to..

hmm.. not many news:
_ I'm creating the main menu, 'cause I was almost crazy with all of those 3D thing ^^
_ Posted a screen of the menu..
_ I created some sounds for the menu and I'm about the to finish the menu song..

General:
_ I will program an universal data storage system, which will work as a "memory card" for all the
games I may create since this one

Actually it sounds senseless, very stupid.. but I have my reasons
