Hmm, i don't think they had the time to do that, i understand them, it's hard to implant this in FPSC.
Quote: "Ragdoll Physics
Shoot someone with a blow dart and they'll fall down to the floor in a fainting motion. Take them out with a shotgun at close range and they'll fly back, hitting the wall behind them and crash down to the floor. Your shots can kill or perhaps just stun a character: they fall down stunned, get up a few seconds later, collect their dropped weapon and chase after you.

Exports
As well as being a stand-alone application, the Map Editor in FPS Creator will also be able to export .map files which can then be used in other FPS games such as the Quake series. For DarkBASIC Professional developers the Map Editor will also export a .dbpro project file with all required code and includes."

I'd forgotten about this. Bit dangerous posting this now, though, given the general mood of these forums.

Co-op would be awesome. It's probably the only missing feature listed in the newsletter I'd kill for.

Heh. Those reasons are why I bought this program in the first place. Knowing it doesn't have them, I wasn't too pleased in the least.

This was a feature list that preceded the EA version. Obviously some things changed.

It was never supposed to be definitive. Most of the stuff is in there.

Why weren't you pleased? You should've checked the real feature list, not the expected features.

I wasn't pleased, because I didn't think a company would advertise one thing, then change it so drastically upon release.

The ragdoll phiyics they told about are what are in now - faked ragdoll phiyics. (Yau, I know, I can't spell phiyics ) It would be really cool if they did get all those features in - the ice on the ramp sounded interesting. And where was it that it said that enemies could follow you, you jump over an openeing bridge, and then the enemy pushes a button and makes the bridge lower? And they mentioned water in this - I would like to see some nice working water!

Precisely. We have been lied to
Hmm...we should cut them some slack though-hopefully the update will have all of these in it...hopefully. If not, I really hope they release another update with all those included. We payed FULL PRICE for FPSC, and we do expect to see everything in it that they told us we would have.
But until the time comes for them to do it, i'm not too bothered-I am happy with FPSC right now, except for the damned Save/Load barrier!

The list ia way to big when it comes to BASIC needs for this engine. I'm waiting for an upgrade before I dedicate any project to FPSC. Granted I will make at least one project, but only when the bugs are fixed and basic features added. Don't wanna have levels that may not work in the upgrade like EA to V1.

JEEZ!You people just STFU! You waste more space complaining about people wasting space than the people your bashing! Man, I thought I had no life.

OH, everybody hush hush. This is just like the consoles. Every next gen system has something more powerful, every next gen software has some better feature than the other version, every year there's a new car everybody wants. Endless circle, bermuda triangle better said. Good thing we're not making Atari games anymore, huh? Games have come a long way, lol.

I'm satisfied. I honestly dont really care about ragdoll physics. Big deal. Guy gets shot down off a platform, feels his nuts in mid-air, and splats to the ground...okay. However, I still think that they should add fog. hehehe. yeah.

Lets just hope that if and when the patch is done that we V1 owners
don't have to pay for it. Just wait, TGC will say ' All EA owners will

TGC didn't promise me anything.
They offered their product, and I bought it.
I could have said no, but I didn't.
I'm glad I didn't.
I love FPSC for what it can do.
I am happy they offer this product to help us.
They are kind for doing so. Thank you TGC.
They could have chosen to develop Tax Software or something instead of creating this engine for us .
Then where would we be?
Not better off.

Edit
Don't get me wrong about that last part.
I'm sure Lee's Tax Software would be great too.
I meant that I would rather have FPSC than Tax Software .

They never said the model packs would be free to anyone, they are an add-on and should be charged for IMO. They just gave it to EA users to offset the cost change from EA to final, so EA users would not be punished for helping them out by loosing money as they dropped the price a tad for V1. I think the next patch will be free. I doubt it will be called v2 though. Prolly v1.1 or v1.01

With the source code to FPSC's engine given away, I am quite shocked (even with all the DBP bugs) that someone hasn't already fixed alot of the issues of missing stuff and bugs. I wish I had the time.

Maybe...

someone has changed it but instead of releasing it, he kept it for himself.

...Maybe not.

It seems like someone would have a save/load by now.... or something. (I want Melee)

I don't have the DBPro Expansion Pack or a C++ Compiler to change anything.

I Which people would quit complaining about FPSC so much and just use what it has to offer. Sure there is always room for improvement and I'll admit there are alot of things that could be improved in the program. Although, where else could you get a program that offers such endless possiablities in level design, and takes about a month for the average user to learn how to use effectivly. Personally, I love the program and wont be satisfied until I release a game that I know people will remember for it's originality. If people spent more time on just building their games, there would be a lot less bitching and a whole lot more quality games released. I am by no means "The guardian angel of FPSC", just a man expressing his opinion. You get what you pay for.

This is for all the haters out there. -NIK

I agree. There is a post somewhere in this forum:
"Word to the haters.Word" or something like that. There is probably at least one hate post per page on this forum and we are up to almost 70 pages.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, though.
Maybe TGC ought to just create a haters forum...then I could find what I am looking for when I come to the forums.

LOL, I thought it would be a laugh.

I am patiently waiting for the update to FPSC and the release of Quikly, both good pieces of software, I have come to the conclusion that bitching will not speed up, nor will it achieve any other positive reaction.
I was not always of this opinion, but resent post on various forums has taught me otherwise.
But it is the right of all customers to bitch about anything they wish, even if it will not achieve a damn thing.

I has returned:
Quikly game pro is like FPSC, it can turn your project into an EXE, or BBpro code, saving a lot of development time.
The site is down at the moment, the developer is updating it, and it is scheduled to be back up on the 22nd march.
There is an article about Quikly in one of the resent TGC news letters.
By the way, I believe it was developed with DBP, and I have the EA version, and so far I like what I see.
Thanks for signing up on my forum.

Will that provide any of the improvements for the engine?

Quote: "I have come to the conclusion that bitching will not speed up, nor will it achieve any other positive reaction."

Okay, now you are making some sense. (It won't speed up the process.)
Although, negative critisism can show areas of improvement which can result in positive changes.

Quote: "But it is the right of all customers to bitch about anything they wish, even if it will not achieve a damn thing.

Ooops, flip-flopped again.

As for third party forums...I think a "Team Request" forum is a better idea than a "Gripe" one.

@ =ChrisB=
Quote: "Hey conjured, maybe i could hook up with you on an FPSC prodject, just for fun."

No team requests, remember?
I am new to DBpro, so I wouldn't be much help except as an idea man maybe.
An attempt to utilize the source provided by TGC sounds much more logical than creating another forum.
The best part about your offer was your reason why....for fun.
After all, having fun is what it's all about.

Back to the lighter side of the force...
A team working on a mod of the engine seems worthy of an exemption to the team request rule.
I mean if it actually was a single project open for everyone's participation.
All open source and Royalty Free of course.

Then the serious FPSC users could all participate in the improving of FPSC regardless of skill level.
This would also speed up development time for everything, because Lee could keep working on the DBpro code.
Lee could keep the FPSC-Mod-Team informed of any core changes to the DBpro code so adjustments could be made.
(we must adapt if we plan to evolve)
But..
Then you have all the whiners complaing about TGC leaving it to the customer.
(1) It's nice they allow the customer to have so much control.
(2) Maybe that complaint forum is a good thing Aoneweb. It would keep them off our backs too!

It's all good!

EDIT
For some reason (I haven't the slighest clue, but some would suspect insanity) I thought of President John F. Kennedy, and what he said in his Inaugural Address in Washington, D.C. on January 20, 1961.

Quote: "
And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.
"

Here's my loyalist's revision...

"And so, my fellow FPSC Users: ask not what Lee Bamber can do for you--ask what you can do for Lee Bamber.

My fellow gamers of the world: ask not what TGC will do for you, but what together we can do for the future of gaming."

This thread makes me laugh, really..... I especially enjoy how =ChrisB= tells people to shut up, while they obviously just add to what he's started.

If you don't like FPSC as is, don't use and move on or wait until it improves the way you like it, if that ever is going to happen.

I really enjoy FPSC and if TGC would fix the bugs and add some kind of save/load feature (even if you're only able to start at the beginning of a chosen level, instead of the beginning of the game), I'll even enjoy FPSC more. Then, if TGC shows up more around here and get some good moderators also. I'll be overjoyed

They have good moderators.
Like all groups, you'll find good and bad.

Big-Brutha is always watching...muhahahahahaha.
They are here whether you see them or not.

Since we are talking hypothetically here about new moderators...

I would have locked this thread day one.
No offense to =ThePowersThatB=

But then again, I wasn't around for the EA Version, so I don't know what was promised for that.
What I do know though is that I was not promised any Ragdoll Physics, and I bought V1 prior to its release.
Maybe I should fake my death and return reborn? Na, a noob could never be a mod.
And there's the delima on the new Mods...
The users wouldn't accept a noob, and the only old users fit to be a mod are already one.
