Warning: contains violence!

DEMO!!!!!!!!!! See bottom of this post!

Please check later posts for more screenshots.

Awhile ago I was making an fps, but I quit it due to certain technical difficulties. Now I'm onto something new, and so far it's going pretty good. I'm making this game in DB Pro, and using shaders, so you'll need a pretty good graphics card to use the special effects. Fortunately, I have graphics options.

Newest screenshot (using Starta Works and Advanced Terrain) with rifle:

Older screenshot of bullets spraying the wall (it's kind of hard to see it, but those are particles )...

Old Demo

This demo is very buggy. There is no collision, and the enemy fires when he is dead! Also, the credits option in the menu doesn't work.

Controls:

movement: w a s d

run: shift

shoot: left mouse button

look down sight: right mouse button

throw grenade (no explosion yet! ): enter

By the way, if you see a number in the top left part of the screen, it is not the fps.

2.lower the gun

Thanks, I will.

One thing though...the gun is higher because it's firing, and it's just showing 1 frame of the animation.

even if it is shooting, i think it should be lower...

it gets real annoying to have the gun taking up that much of the screen...

but it looks really good!

Thanks guys.

I moved the gun down, and did a lot of work on the AI, as well as level design. Here's a guard:

Not if you use the gpu flag rather than the standard cpu option

Yes, the GPU flag. Here is the new shader command:

set shadow shading on ObjNum, Mesh, MaxDistance, UseShader

Setting UseShader to 1 will use the GPU for the shadows. It especially helps with multiple objects. Now I just wish it was possible to actually make the shadows darker. It's near impossible to see on a detailed texture.

@DarkBasic MAD: if u dont know what we are talking about, so please, dont even say anything cuz u even not tryed the shadow by your self

and about the shadow thingy
it works smooth with gpu flag, but well, i dont know whats wrong, but when i tryed the shadow on my character, the FPS decreased to 10 or so and the shadow was kinda buggy on the character.. also it did a memory crash after few secunds.

I have a few questions...

So, what kind of FPS is it? Judging by the weapons and the enemy it looks like it takes place during World War 2. Is that right?

What kind of weapons system will you be / are you using? Example) You can hold every weapon like Half Life 2 or Doom 3 or you can only hold 2 and have to swap like Halo or Call of Duty etc.

What kind of gameplay features are there? Example) Aiming down the sight, melee attacks, crouching, sprinting etc.

What kind of objectives do you have to accomplish?

Can you get my eyes uncrossed and get rid of the monsters that are in my closet ? I'm scared and I can't see.

Hey FPS Mastermind, you haven't responded to me for a while now about that map you said you would help with... I've sent millions of e-mails to you, and no response... are you ditching the map?

ON TOPIC- Games looks awesome! Once again, great progress man!

@covenant:

In answer to your questions...

1. Yeah, I'm thinking WW2. It's a perfect time zone for an FPS.

2. I'll probably make it so you have a stock of grenades and maybe explosives, and one gun. But I'll make enemies everywhere, so that when they die, you can pick up their weapons.

3. I'll probably be adding all of those, in fact, next time I work on my game.

4. Basically, the objectives will be, "Blast your way through and kill anything that moves!" . I might add missions like, "blow up the enemy airport...now that I think of it, that sounds good!

5. Um, what exactly do you mean?

I'll post up a few more screens once I get some work done.

@Xenocythe Resurrected:

Thanks for the great feedback!

I will test it out. I would really like to work on AI for your game and the level editor. I really think that I could contribute a lot to your game. I have worked with the professionals with algorithms on intelligent enemies that learn from their mistakes and fuzzy logic.

Pretty cool. Here are some bugs:

*If you go up the ramp, and then walk off it, you would be walking through the air...
*Sometimes, your health goes down when there isn't anyone around.

When the guy dies he still shoots bullets . Plus its not very fast paced, I hate walking around uber slow. Good gun mechanics tho, might want to make it shoot faster.

OddMind, it's probably slow because you have th graphics settings to high. Go to the display menu.

UFO, yah, I know.

FPS Mastermind, I really appreciate your offer, but I wanted to make this game entirely on my own. Thank you anyways.

Honestly, the game is going very well right now. Thank you for asking.

However, there is one thing I need; hands for my guns. If anyone could help, I'd be grateful.

And now, this is what I have been doing with my game. It now supports up to 10 players in multiplayer. I've decided to make it completely online. Here's a screenshot of the terrain using Strata Works and advanced terrain, and with a new gun I just added. I can't give out a demo until the guy who made Strata Works gives me permission to use his textures that come with Starta Works :
