since some people are going to profit from making a save and load screen, what are you guys going to do - when will version 2 come out? have you thought about purchasing one of these guys apps and making it an official part of fpsc? i'm not spending money on a half assed exe packer with a save and load feature, thats crap. i want a halfway descent official release as of yesterday? anybody else want fpsc creators to release and official save and load update?

TGC is working on FPSC as we speak. We should see the next version or updates to this one by the end of the year. They will decide which one.

As for the other guys apps, I agree. Don't purchase any save/load app. Keep working on your game development skills and someone will put out a free app before you know it.

FPSC is only 6 or 7 months old. We expect great things to happen with it, but that takes a little time. Everyone on the forums is learning patience.

I think releasing FPSC2 with programs such as E.C.S. Pro, MFPS, and Signs 3 would be an excellent idea. TGC would just have to buy them out, or give them royalties (the authors I mean).

How can you know that? I mean, sure it sounds realistic to get an update by the end of the year. And I don't know if they work on it as we speak right now, but I don't really think so. There happens a lot of others things other than fpsc! Right now they work hard on getting Dark Physics released, then the new update for DarkBasic Pro(Should get out today). Also an update for the DarkGame SDK is much needed, and I think that's gonna be the next on their list. Also, the Dark AI plugin should be released today too...

Of course I don't know their plans... But that's just what I think.

You're right, of course. I am only repeating what the MODS have said here in the forums. I guess it comes down to whether or not you believe them.

The MODS also said, as you did, that they are working on a number of more important things at the moment, but that we (FPSC) would have something by the end of the year.

I see no reason to doubt it.

In the May newsletter TGC said they are going to have an upgrade for FPSC.
In TGC's defense they have a variety of products they have to constantly update.
Like others have pointed out FPSC hasn't been out for very long so it is not unreasonable to wait for an upsdate.

Yeah, but that is working on FPSC V2 really.
If that new version of DBpro will be what V2 is written with, then V2 should have the Physics upgrades.
No since in making FPSC V2 until the DBpro upgrade is done, or else it wouldn't have the new features it could.

Right?

I think we should trust TGC's judgement and try to exercise more patience and understanding.

When it does come, it will be all the better if it wasn't rushed.

As much as I'd like to bitch cause theres no s/l function, I also have to ask what would I do if I had one right this minute. All my modeling isn't done( cause I'm using nothing supplied ) all the texturing.....all the scripting. Since most of us are hobbyist, were doing it all on our own, which makes for a really long turn out time for someone not turning out a piece of poop. I personally am going to give my game away once its done because it plays into an underground community of a real online game I play( Npc will be named and have characteristics of some of the best duelers on the server ect..more of a props thing). I know TGC will treat us right..
And in the mean time......we wait on some things....and build allot.

The only people who can update FPSC in a proper manner really are TGC.

Anyone who wishes to spend money elsewhere of course are quite entitled to do so - its their cash.

Personally I would not buy any add on, plugin or supportive software - at any price unless it was able to meet with its function fully. e.g. A Save/Load feature is just that - Save/Load anywhere/anytime - correctly. Anything else is just half baked and is no answer. Vice Versa - any software that did what it was supposed to do and was truly of benefit in meeting a missing need might be worth whatever value any developer asked for it. You then either buy or not if you can afford it - hard luck I guess if like me perhaps you cant.

Still I would in some instances be wary of purchasing a product from anyone other than TGC without proof in practical application that it could do what was claimed in the form of a working demo that could be fully tested in conjuction with actual development inside an individual users FPSC game making. Making software to work correctly in conjunction with FPSC which itself will currently cause problems is no easy task.

You should also consider than any update may see some considerable change to the current V1 source - anything purchased Now - may possibly not work correctly with FPSC when TGC eventually update the software. It may and may not.

I will personally wait and see what any update and future updates offer.

As to Save/Load and most eveything else you could possibly think of thats been already asked for inumerable times - you will get them when TGC decide it fits in with their future plan for their business and not before. We are extremely unlikely to affect their thinking along those lines.

Unfortunately however on based on current trends it seems you will just have to have patient until the next update and perhaps far beyond to find out what improvements you may see. The more you ask the less likely you are to be told anything.

Those that have been using FPSC for a long time waiting for an update or improvements are used to it and have some patience - If new users intend to make any decent game worthy of needing a fully fledged Save/Load feature then they should be still working on it long after the next update so they will have plenty of time to incorpoarate a Save/Load feature later.

if TGC implemented dark AI into FPSC, it would be an EXELENT improvement to the way that our charecters moved, but would also up the expertise needed to write a common script, so AI is theire call.

as for DARK physics, this would be an exelent idea, and frow what ive heard its WAY better/faster than ODE, but i also think that ageia's licenseing is a bit more strict.

Im not exactly sure, but thats what i recall...
