I'd love to enter this, but I'll have to see how it goes. I've got my A levels this month, so I may not be able to.

So far the only regulations set by Ooga Booga are the ones in the rules thread, which basically states to create a weapon.

If I remember correctly, this isn't the first weapons contest, is it?

I'm in for this, it'll give me a good excuse to make another weapon for my game ( http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=79657&b=3 )

Sometimes an object needs a little nip and tuck here and there. In this case, it needed a total tear down.

Lol...I drew a concept for mine...sadly it came out looking like a replica of the Soul Reaver from Legacy of Kain... so mine will basically just be a remake of a previous existing sword

I love swords:

300 Polygons

300 Polygons
The concept sketches I drew of it look almost identical to the Soul Reaver from Legacy Of Kain: Blood Omen...so...I named it the Reaver.

Its not how simple it is, its how orginal it is. Its my design, so it stays the same, sorry. But I do have about 4 other things Iam doing, so I couldnt really put more time into it.

Helpful...

Higgins, it looks very nice. What did you make it in? There's nothing wrong with it at all, although the handle looks like it might break under the weight of the rest of the weapon. I think you'll need to texture it before I can really comment on it though. After all, a texture can make a model 1000x better or worse.

I use 3DS Max for all my 3d work. Its uv mapped so the texture is all that is left.

You hold it with two hands, one on the handle, one near the gas escape valve and mini gun wire. Ill have hands on it to show how it would be held in my final image.

Here is what I have done so far:

Pic 1
Pic 2
Pic 3
Pic 4

I'll make smaller size images later as I am a bit busy doing other stuff atm.

Basicly its a bracer that sits on your arm which shoots the rockets off, simple but I like it lol. I am not sure what the poly count limit is as I wanted to model a little bit more to it but the missiles are quite high in poly (may try lower them slightly).

I also animated it so people could see how it worked (I screwed the frame rate stuff up so its really slowly animated and I cba to render it again)

Animated Bracer
(format is mpg, if another format is needed just say as it only takes a few seconds to code)

Will work on UV mapping next and then texturing it.
Oh, I am using Maya btw.

Thanks Higgins,

May I ask what you used to render your models?

I placed a skylight over the model and used the light tracer render. This is all in 3D MAX 8 by the way.

The gun's stock is far too angled and simple compared to the rest of the model.

I did, and it effing ruled GOOOOO Metallica!! (Was the best bit, loved the mosh pit in Metallica)
anyway...

I'm back after a 4 hour journey on a bus and 3 trains (Not all at once of course)

A huge thanks to MikeS for taking over, it looks like he has done an awesome job, and I am back (Poor you) I won't take over for Mike on this (Unless he wants to or needs to) so I don't ruin the flow or anything, but I will be his ickle lil assistant and make sure everything stays in order.

Nice WIPs everyone, I might enter, being forum named after a legendary Samurai, it would make sense to model a Katana, or a Bokken (Based on one of Musashi's legendary victories)

[edit]
Don't ask 'How was download' check out the thread in geek culture/general talk

Well alright then, but its not mine, its the community's Which is why anybody is welcomed to be a part of it.

@Big Add you should have time, I mean I was only gone 4 days, that leaves at least 6

[edit] Just notice how long the contest is slightly longer than the usual 10 day limit

Quote: "Duration - 7th June - 21st June"

Nice one, might be able to spend time on this.
