Actually...no...I've taken a lot longer on several models that weren't very detailed at all...and much worse than his.

I sucked at Uv mapping, now Iam quite good at it. I started texturing the other day, but need to do more to get better. You should just keep at it, watch some video tutorials.

In general it wouldn't matter, unless PSP specific tools were used like some of the filters. My only real tip for texturing is this.

Observe the texture you need, don't think its all one part, think whats the most basic layer (usually something cloudy in my experience) and how would that layer be made, lets say its wood, and is bottom layer looks wavy/cloudy, (in photoshop the cloud filter is useful) in PSP there would be an easy way to make that effect, the next layer is a bunch of dark brown rings, they're simple enough, with possible bits of gradient coming out, then the next layer of wood you could say are brown circles and then scratces.

What I have been doing is to make the texture all one layer. I think I will take your advice Musashi, it would make editing images in Paint shop a lot easier.

Nice looking smg dark coder. Is it a real gun or one you designed?

Just a heads up, all entries must be in by Wednesday in the entry thread.

Also, I started my own entry of a samurai sword, it looked alright, however I was not happy as the amount of detail needed work to compete, so I might give it a miss this time

i'd submit a death star but I don't want to win AGAIN, cause i'd ask for a low poly cyberpunk model and people would cry cause i'd put it in syndicate maybe if I have time I will make an original weapon..

As soon as I saw your name in the last post box on the front of this thread, some how I knew the post would be somehow death star related I'm afraid you're going to need to make another awesome model like it, but if you are going to use your model in syndicate, nobody should moan, it just has 2 purposes

Thought I best show a w.i.p.
I took this early today, so its come on a bit better.
I'm going for an OTT far future, sword, planet destroying, ground shaking gun!

Just hope I can get it done in time for once.

Back to the grind...

This contest will end this evening in respect to UK time.

Quote: "......are there any prizes ?"

Afraid not, these contests are based on skill and improvement really and challenging each other, the only I give to the winner is the right to pick the next theme, extra rules and regulations (as long as they are reasonable, if not they are subject to change) and the choice of picking a polygon count limit, which you don't have to pick a limit like this contest doesn't.

Prizes may have a place in the future, but they probaly won't be any good, or really worth while to the users, these would be free 3D models and possibly any non-free games I produce, or just source code of any games produced.

Voting has begun, you have a 24 hour late entries period, so I'd be quick if you have any last bits to get in (24hour starting from 8pm UK time) So quick quick!
