Is it possible to make sprites by my own? I'm just curious.

@OJA

I used animated sprite pack for the diagonal lights in the exterior screen shots.

**The yellow light rays and white strip lighting were my own work.**

@ Nigezu.

I'll release the light rays I have created as free media in September, after the release of the game. And when I have time I'll post a tutorial for making decals.

Peace

Lol, that's ok dude, I wasn't stressin, I just didn't want benjie to think I was takin credit for his work, nor did I want people to buy the sprite pack thinkin my light effects would be in there!

I've now created (thanks to Jon Fletcher's crit) a diagonal light effect in the same style as the downward ones, and Jon, I have to say it looks very tasty. I'm just cutting together a quick preview of the level... upload in 5mins>

and you will fred you will.

The Nuke plant chapter (inside the derelect facility) is almost complete. I'm really paranoid about my media getting ripped from my game (what with 90% of media being my own), and I know for a fact that it's possible to crack into FPSpack.

Therefore I will be sending a demo to a select few individuals (that way if my media shows up elsewhere, I'll know roughly who stole it.

***This is not an opportunity for all the freebie grabbers out there to start asking for demos! I already have my testers lined up (or am about to line them up, and I'll get them to post their feedback here***

Once the bug reports and reviews are back, chapter one will be Almost ready for release.

Oh and one question (ive never got a built game working before) What are those essential files I have to copy accross to get the built game working?

Peace.
Butters.

Do Not say that...

However, this could well be the best game ever created in FPSC. The atmosphere and graphics in that video was outstanding. I wouldn't be suprised if you get a publisher interested in this project. I would pay £30 or even £40 for this game because it looks so good.
Well done

@ Opposing force.

lol thanks man. And trust me on this, it doesn't own halflife. It might come close to throwing a punch at HL1, but I'm not trying to beat the big name commercial titles, I'm just trying to make the Best game possible with the tools I have.

I'm trying to move away from the standard kind of run and shoot and pull switch setup.

Due to this, although the levels are near finished, there is alot of work still to be done scripting events and scenes. I'm probably gonna release in episodes, so as to reduce the development strain (i've just started a job so I can't spend all day getting that light to look just right...).

But I'm glad people are hyped. Im hyped.

Hi Butters, excellent stuff as usual The video was particularly interesting. I'd noticed the skyscroll=X command in the manual but hadn't got round to playing with it yet. I'm guessing that it's a bit like a giant alpha-mapped decal superimposed over the skybox 'ceiling'?

BTW, it's nearly 6am Are you up very early, or very late?

Cheers

LOL, yeah dude, I'm up very late, finshed 2 entire levels tho, and got scrolling sky working. You have to add the line

:state=0:skyscroll=YOURCLOUDTEXTURE

to the setup.fpi file in the

languagebank\english\mygame\
folder

Supah Gamer

brummel told me this about changing the sky box for each level

Quote: "
Yes you can. In the winzone script, just put sky=x and the foldernames to change it when you win. It takes a while before the screen darkens but you could display a black hud on the screen. OR you could change it in the beginning of your new level and let the player spawn in a triggerzone.

Awesome screenshots!!! I can't wait to see more

One question about the first couple of screenshots: I have the Sprite Pack, and I know how you did the lightrays, but how did you get the white lense-flare right in front of the light-bulbs?

Just to let everyone know,

Fall of the Fireflies demo will be available as of 11pm GMT tonight.

It was ready last night, but I want to take this evening to do fully custom menus. I know it's not essential for a demo, but it's all part of making a good final product.

I'm afraid the demo will not feature sensei AI, as me and kwesi are still testing it, the AI is improved though (fully custom scripts).

So, I'm gonna get back to work on it. Expect a demo later.

100mb? No probs. My 1.1mbps internet speed can handle it. I downloaded the Doom 3 demo yesterday and that was 460mb and it took me about an hour and a half. Just make sure you upload it to a decent server.

its cool, the first episode is set in 2 buildings, so the textures are kind of shared between the levels. final zip of episode one should be about......

400mb

or

550mb

if you want the video+intro.
