Hello.

Here's a battle between 2 scarlet hammer mecenaries, and 2 militia fighters.

I (the player) don't join in with this battle, and I set the enemies to ignore me (normally they would attack me and the mercs!)

Anyway, I think this is pretty cool. I loaded this same battle about 10 times, and each time it played out differently!

Enjoy

Butter fingers, with your sensei team script, do your team members stay still and shoot when an enemy comes close and constantly stay still or do they move around finding a new target untill they get killed?

There are a coupla different ones.

Theres a follow command, where the player controls the team mates actions with the F, G and H keys.

F for follow
G for defend
h attack

then theres the script you saw in the video, which is a script for a scripted battle. The entities will keep killing the other team until none are left. Normally all 4 attack, but due to a bit of a cpu drop when I use fraps sometimes only 3 activate.

I'm quite grrr.

I have had harldy any free time the last 2 weeks, I spent the FPSC time i did have making an amazing ruined city level. I don't wanna be big headed but it was so good, had a scripted event with a collapsing church spire and everything. Now I boot up FPSC and try and run it and it crashes. I've loaded every save, from 1 through to 17 (each different build stage) and I get the same error 124:098 bla bla.

I'm really frustrated. I might have to redo the whole thing. Looks like FOTF is gonna have to be delayed. Its weird, sometimes FPSC is really accomodating, and it seems whatever I build I hit fast load times and high frame rates. I haven't had a level crash on me for ages. And now.... jeez it's like all the FPSC bad luck is coming at once!

I'm gonna stay up late, work on re-building the level. Post some screens later on. sorry to rant and whinge. I guess I'm just feeling a bit bummed about the level-death. need some encouragement! lol

@ Butter fingers :
Man i feel for ya as ive had this happen to me before as well, the only way i fixed it was to restall fpsc to repair.

Lucky it repaired the problem for me maybe it will for you but fpsc can be funny in these matter's.

Another thing you could try is a restore back just before you had any problems.

Best of luck with getting your project back up and running.

Dude, that sucks Butters. I had to restart my entire project one time, so I know the feeling. The level you described does sound pretty impressive though with the collapsing church thing and whatnot. Hopefully you remember the blueprint of the level. Hang in there dude.

I'm sorry to hear that. FPSC acts really wierd sometimes indeed.

Maybe you should wait for upgrade 1.0.2 and see if that fixes a problem.

Hey. NOt using the update. I thought it was pretty rubbish .
I mean thanks to TGC for finally getting involved and doing an update, but it seemed to cause as many problems as it fixed.

I'm currently working between Empty's update and V1. I never had too many problems with it anyway. The levels where you fight with allies will be compiled with Emptys source.

Anyway. Thanks to D13 I am back on track. I started the ruins level again and it's looking ok. I guess I'm just feeling a bit lack lustre towards FPSC at the moment, but it'll pick up again, I just need to find that spark again!

I'm gonna take a break from FOTF, as I have spent all my free time on it recently.

I'm gonna work on a decal pack. So far it includes new blood (including green and puss blood for zombies), 6 different sparks, 3 different types of light ray (in 5 different colours), CCtv screens, fog, mist (on the floor) for that spookyeffect, and some other bits and bobs. I'm considering doing a complete remake of all the standard explosions in FPSC.

anyway. More soon.

thanks dude. THanks for takin the time to download.
Don't worry about the sounds. people mentioned that, I took it on board and changed them. To be honest, the demo is REALLY not representative of the quality of the project! I'm glad you liked it though and thankyou for taking the time to comment!

Butterfingers, I played your demo and - WOW. I loved the new media you had (I do suggest some work on the arms on the guns though) and I actually thought the muffled sounds were nice. Why? It sounds like your inside a suit or a helmet, which is what you would probally wear in such a situation. The level design was good, 20 fps average on my CPU, but I have alot of background programs (anti-virus, ect) that were on, but the 20 fps wasn't bad cause you don't notice it much

thanks man.

I have changed the sounds, and I gotta say the updated ones sound much better. I cringe when I play the demo now.

20FPS is surprisingly low dude. I don't even get that running maya and photoshop in the background!

It's interesing you mention being in a suit, cuz my new level has you wearing a gas mask which partially obscures your vision!

Anyway, I'm glad you liked it. And thanks for the interesting posts tonight!

Just a quick update. Made some new weapons and started on a ruined urban level. It's nowhere near done, and the lights are just place markers, but I thought I'd post anyway.

finally, a side view of the sniper rifle.

I really like the sniper rifle. It has not crosshair on regular mode, so you can only aim accurately by looking through the sight.

When you move with it, it obscures alot of your view.

Kind of forcing the player to use this weapon only at long range, and behind cover...

the texture on the ground is a composite of 2 images. The texture on the walls, uh it's either from a bunch of photos I took at a building site, or a free-to-use from ****** (I'm not revealing that source), someone posted about the site a while ago, it's in the models and media forum.

At the moment, FOTF is offically over. FPSC has totally died on my PC. I can't do anything except map edit. no test, no uninstall, no build, no delete, nothing.

Butter fingers,
I used to smoke and there is nothing worse than having a bad day and being out of cigarettes.
I would back up any files you modified (in my case just about everything but the languagebank) and move them.
Then I would uninstall everything...
V1,any updates,empty's mod,model packs,the works.
Then reninstall v1 and try it again.
If it works I would transfer my copied folders over a little at a time and keep checking just to see if it works.
Another thing you might check is I had a debug error problem earlier in the day.
It turned out that if you have more than one script in the scriptbank by the same name you can't test, build or anything like that...
You might check your scriptbank just to see.
If there are any scripts with duplicate names simply move them somewhere else. That fixed that problem for me.
And e-mail Lee.I am sure he will be happy to assist you.

Butter Fingers this is what I suggest you try.

Burn all of your FPSC directory folders to a disc. Completely uninstall FPSC and all related media from your computer. Then reinstall FPSC v.1 and make sure that it runs. Then take your custom FPSC folders that you have burned to the disc and replace the new existing folders one by one. Each time you replace a folder, run FPSC to make sure there are no problems.

Hope this helps. If it doesn't I have a few more ideas on how to fix the problem.

I'm doing that right now, everthing is fine (even the re-jigged stuff in the language bank), it seems to be the script bank that kills it.

So Fred, could you expand on what you mean about "two scripts with the same name"

Surely you cant have 2 things with exactly the same name in the same folder?

I think this could be the problem, so please elaborate!!

Butter fingers,
I had just downloaded Airlslide's Beta 2 scripts.
I renamed the old folder something else and installed the new ones.
When I tried to run a test level and/or build a game I got the debug eror.
When I moved the folder containing the old scripts out of the scriptbank FPSC started working again.

it was the scripts!

I installed grave matter yesterday, and it never said it came with new scripts. That took me just over the limit (201)

I've got it all back and working now and I'm happy as a carebear.

Thankyou Fred, Xplosys and Uman for the suggestions that got it working, and everyone else who posted to help.
I was seriously freaking out there!
