I have posted some tips on where to start out when you just started programming.

If you are caught in a bind with how hard darkbasic is then I have some tips to get you up to the programming a game level.

I have been programming for a year now and I have found this way to help me and I think this way will help you. I started out like you did and everyone else knowing nothing but programming is very confusing and I could never make a game with out years of learning. I have come up with a good way to teach yourself programming in a year.

Step one:

Go to:

http://www.gamemaker.nl

This is a free 2d game maker. Yes it is very eazy!

It uses a drag and drop interface that allows users to make there game with ease. Game maker also has language of it's own it's eazy and very close to the dark basic language so once you learn that dark basic should be easy.

You could pay a register fee to get 3D game maker and then go from there.

Step two:

Get the book. On this site they have a book that you can read that will explain everything you need to know.

Step three:

Start making you game and don't be afraid to ask questions!

I have two year experience with game maker so even though this isn't the game maker form I can help with any game maker related questions.

Just use the edit button, don't post 3 times in a row!

And no offense (and I mean this), but why couldn't we just use the tutorials that people have already made?

One last thing, instead of showing newcomers where to get models, why not teach them how to make simple models in Milkshape for the same price?

Thanx for the tip!

What I ment for tutorials is transitions FROM game maker TO dark basic.

This link I just found and yes I could teach them how to make models but I can't because I am not a modeller. I just wanted to show them a good place to get models and use them in there games. Check out game maker to see what I mean if you are still confused.

No, I am not confused. (I've used GameMaker before )

Anyway, maybe you could add some links to modelling tutorials.

The reason I created this was to allow people to post resources on this site and use this as a big resource area where newcomers can get links to get started in various subjects.
