Could someone please show me some SDK code examples and if possible, some playable demos or games made with the SDK? I would be extremely grateful!

Thanks!

Erm... the GDK comes with sample projects, 14 to be precise, are you requiring samples for learning, or merely to see what other people are up to?

I found the ones that come with the gdk to be pretty unhelpful when it comes to learning c++, they don't teach you squat. But then again their purpose is just to show you how to use the gdk.

If its learning material your after get a book, C++ primer plus by stephen prata is da bomb sing.

Look around for Connect More 1.2 from Walaber. It´s very helpful for learning how use mutiple files and how to use Newton in a game. It´s from the puzzle compo. It should be on his site. There are a few games with source code though I can´t remember any names. There´s one with cars and another one made by Philbert McTwitch that has something to do with blobs.

Need path finding in your games? Have a look at the tutorials on Pathfinding.

I downloaded that but didn't "get it". I really liked the menus and stuff, but then I was dropped in this barren planet, couldn't move my ship (tried all keys and mouse) and all I could do was shoot, but not kill, at a single ship that was slowly approaching.

What did I miss, Nick?

Nothing - you just rotate around and shoot things, which gradually get harder and harder...

It starts off slowly, but as each day passes, you get more objects to deal with...

There are tons of examples for DB and DBPro that can be converted about as fast as you can type them in if you have an understanding of C++. Check under DarkBasic tutorials, and DarkBasic Professional tutorials... also there is a book for DarkBasic/DBPro and numerous sites around the net, like the PlayBasic website have source code examples for DB/DBPro which are extremely easy to convert. I converted nearly all the Binary Moon tutorials on the first day I got the SDK.

I will give out the code to Iro on a per-request basis as long as people understand how old the code is, the fact its not cleaned and that its currently a visual studio 6 project

Oh, yeah... I remember this game. I downloaded when I was initially thinking about buying the GDK - found it to be pretty good... reminded me of spindizzy which was a game I really loved.

Nice one, Sephnroth!
