Hey all,

I'm currently wrapping the Dark Game SDK for Neko / haXe as Neko is an incredible virtual machine that works almost as fast as C and the haXe layer will give is true OOP capabilities. This will be great for any SDK license owners who know JavaScript or ActionScript, want the raw power of the Dark Game SDK and don't know C++ that well.

Once I've finished mapping the SDK for Neko, I'm going to move on to Python and Ruby.

Is there anyone interested in such an endeavour? Just so I know there will be interest and I'm not just doing this for myself

Regards,

Laz

There may be interest, but I have to warn for you to be carful. If you end up with some sort of stand alone file for those scripting languages that doesnt require someone to of bought the original GDK from here first then TGC wont be too happy because, of course, anyone who downloads your project suddenly has a free darkgdk Though in that scenario perhaps TGC could kindly host it for you and make it only availiable for download on the orders page like the actual SDK.

Otherwise just be sure to make it dependent on some of the files that you get from the original SDK and don't distrobute them with your releases

I would have to agree. This was something I gave alot of thought towards with DGDK.NET. I'm unsure how 'Dr Laz' is wrapping it, but as said.. give great consideration to potential misuse.

My intention is to provide an API wrapper for the languages in a single dll. Of course, this will make it difficult to provide a dependence on the SDK, but I'm happy for TGC to host it for me In fact, I think it could be very good for them as it provides a DBPro package for languages people already know!

If anyone from TGC wish to talk to me about this, please do.

Can I assume then that TGC will have no qualms in my wrapping the DGDK for these languages? I expect some sort of agreement, perhaps where people can only download from the TGC site on ownership of the license (or something), but it would be cool to know before I start development in earnest.

Regards,

Laz
