Hi all,

It has been one HELL of a lot of work! But the end is finally near... Over 700 emails, 7,672 files, 457 folders, 1.6 Gigabytes of entries, we've taken over 900 screen shots reduced down to 471, written 95 personal reviews, prepared a results site and newsletter and finally... FINALLY... it's nearly over.

Everyone has done their judging except Lee He is doing his final tests now and we'll have a conference call at 10pm GMT tonight. This will decide the winning games.

Please note we have changed the winners - instead of a Top 3 games we now have a Top 12 with prizes for every single one - because there were just TOO many good games. We have not changed the Top 3 prizes, but we have added a lot more.

You will find various files on this site if you hunt around, I've seen forum messages about this and that's life, I cannot stop people trying to look but I can assure you in around 4 hours time it won't be required. You will NOT find the results uploaded anywhere until you read about it here, that I guarantee.

Originally we wanted the results out on the 20th but Easter holiday in the UK fell over this date so we moved to the 22nd (I had hoped for the 21st in another forum post, but that wasn't to be as Mike and Lee were away).

It has been one heck of a compo, the very best yet and soon you will see everything there is to see. Be patient... 4 hours isn't the end of the world

Cheers,

Rich "off for a beer" Davey

Thankyou for giving us a time Rich - that'll save the internet a lot of 'refresh' bandwidth tonight

I can understand your frustration over hexgears joke given the work you've put in, but I cannot help but see the funny side...

Great news Rich, thnaks!

And congratulations, i have judged a competion in the past with only about half the entries and it is a 'trying' job. I'm surprised you have actually managed to keep your cool for so long especially considering some of the 'childish' posts made over the past few days!

A Game tool!! That would probably noarrow the entry list a bit. No point in creating 20 Sprite Editors, 35 3D Modellers etc when there are already loads out there <ggg>

The thing is with other peoples game tools, whether they are good or bad, sometimes it makes sence to make your own as you understand the way it works better and don't have the frustrations of trying to understand someone elses work, and you can work with it in your own way. I mean no disregard to anyone making tools for the rest of the community because it is a good thing to have tools around incase some people can make use of them, but making your own can also be as rewarding as making a game.

Anyway back to the post inhand, I am sure the wait will be worth it, I'm sitting on the edge of my seat and I didn't even manage to finish my entry(it's still in production though), so I hate to think what it's like for the peeps that did complete and get their entries in on time. Good luck to you all by the way!! and I do hope this hasn't put the DB team off doing other comps in the near future you'l all deserve a good rest after this no doubt... at least the whinning should stop for a few days and that'l be nice, it will be a holiday in itself.

I need a cigarette, but to do that I have to go downstairs...

I've got the results page and this thread refreshing twice a minute and my email every minute....

If I have a ciggy I might miss the results...

I don't know what to do.
