OK, I'm making a 3d hat (which is why its in the 3D Chat), and I'm making it in Wings 3D. Well, I took a box, smoothed it, and pushed around some vertices until I had the hat. Then I wanted some hair around the outside of it. Since the hat will be on backwards, I put longer hair on the back, and the sides, then some short bangs. It looked good, but I exported it, and reloaded it to see what it looked like (in 3ds), the tope of the hat was all messed up. Now I can't seem to fix it. So, if some one is willing to help me out, or tell me how I should go about making a hat with hair, I'd really appreciate it. Below is what the hat looked like before then after.

if you saved an original in the 3d applications native file, you can refer to that, if you didnt it would require people to work with the broken model and thats usually a slim chance.

next time if you haven't, make a work in progress folder and save a copy of each model into that folder series in the native format of the 3d application so you can fall back on that if something (which has) gone wrong.

The first one has 'ngons' on it, not many file formats take n-gons. So what it looks like to me is the program tried to convert the n-gons to triangles in the file, but failed to do it completely.

Oh, the top one is from the orignal file, want me to upload it (its in Wings 3d format) so you can take a look at it? I'll do it anyways.

What are those?

So if I were to close up those ngons things to be polygons, would it fix my hat?

It should do, if it doesn't I'll be damned.
