Ever needed that one entity to complete your scene, but couldn't find it in the 100+ pages of the Models and Media board? Don't have any money for models in the Game Creators Store?

FPSC Developer Content Browser by Molten Byte Design!

What is the FPSC Developer Content Browser (FPSCDCB or DCB)?
Simply put, it's a searchable database with every single entity, segment, sound, decal or otherwise ever released on the FPSC Models and Media board.
The FPSC Developer Content Browser (v1.0)
Do I have to pay to use it?
No, but donations are accepted. It's getting tight, financially, and it's getting tough to keep the web host up every month. And if the web host goes down, the database goes with it...
How do I use it?
Say you need a desert themed segment. You'd simply type in desert into the search box and hit search. The first result is the first entry in the database with the word "desert" in it. Once you find one that you would like to know more about, double click it to bring up a window with a screenshot (On most items. Some do not contain screenshots) and a direct link to the download. You'll also be able to sort by creator, so if you wanted Bond1's arcade machine from Christmas of 2005, you'd sort by creator and scroll down to bond1's creations.
First Rendition of FPSCDCB(v0.1)
How many entries are there in the database?
We are currently working towards adding every single free release to the database. As of right now, we currently have about 150 entries. This will change with the newest version (v2.0), as users will be able to add their own entries to the database.
How do we know we have the most recent version?
On startup, the newest version (currently unreleased), will check the Molten Byte Design site for the database and read the entries from there. This makes it to where each time you open the program, you have the most recent entries. We will also send out updates through the Molten Byte Design Installer, which comes with the new update.
What's the big deal about the "new" version?
The free FPSC Developer Content Browser Software Update includes some great new features, as well as all the features from previous updates. The new version (2.0) is a complete overhaul of the first version. There's a new UI, new features, and it's cleaner. Some of the features: auto-update, add entries to database, a "More Info" window and much more. If you’ve never downloaded before, this would the perfect time.
When does the new version come out?
The new version will come out sometime next week, and will be posted here for you to download.
FPSC Developer Content Browser 2.0 is a complete departure from the previous incarnations of the FPSC Developer Content Browser. Built on GameXS technology, the FPSCDCB is scaleable to support many kinds of media, and introduces some key new features:
• The View Details Window
The new view details window allows users to get information and screenshots of an item at the touch of a button. No longer is there the need to copy and paste image links into a web browser to see an image. Available images (not hosted at the TGC Forum) are displayed right in the application!
• Media Database Automatic Updating
Previously, media in the database couldn’t be updated automatically, and any new media added to the database required the database to be redownloaded manually and placed into the FPSC Developer Content Browser’s folder, a tedious task. With the new version, the media is stored locally, but “synced” with the master database on MoltenByte Design’s website.
• User Added Media
With the 2.0 update, users can now add their own media through the web media panel. The media is synchronised with other FPSC Developer Content Browser users the next time they start the program.
• GameXS Technology at its Core
The 2.0 update introduces a radical redesign of the software, allowing fast migration to GameXS upon its release, and retains its media database during migration to GameXS.
The FPSC Developer Content Browser (v2.0)
One more thing: For any developers interested in doing anything with the media database, a SOAP service (in the C#/.NET style) is available at
http://moltenbytedesign.com/FPSCDCBServices/MediaService.asmx. Currently there is only one method available for use, which gets all the media from the database, but in the future, there should be some more for adding media, etc.
