Hi there my friends! I was not going to post this until Monday, but thought, if some of you would like to get a head start over the weekend we can get it rolling. As always, you can expect a bunch of new, and cool stuff from old Cosmic.

All are welcome to join in. All models must be FPSC ready, and sent to me before the end of the project to be included in the pack. Anything goes as far as media. Segments, Entities, Scripts, Music and sound clips, Skyboxes, Huds, ect. Lets have some fun on this one guys. Be creative, and show off your skills.

Scene Commander: Yeah me too. I grew up reading the novels by Jules Verne, and H.G.Wells and Love the Bioshock series, and thought it might be a chance to do something similar, that's never really been aproached here before in any length.

And an hour later, a model!

The picture is attached to this post. Before I finish up the UV map and export it, I have a question. Is it possible to attach particles to this so when it is flying, there is fire coming from the engines? If not it's not a problem, I can pull out a few tricks, but that would be easier.

Ditto.. Could I also suggest looking at the League of Extraordanary Gentlemen - The graphic novels, not the awful film.

And a personal request as I can't think of anything more Steampunk than the original time machine from the 1960's movie. Feel free to ignore me..

I think we may be able to handle that. Or at least something close, depending on the overall poly count.

Great idea!

When is the deadline for additions? I'd love to have a go to improve my modelling skills, but there is an FPSC competition running until June.

I'll probably let this run at least til the middle, or latter part of June, if there are enough folks who decide to join in. I've got around 20 or so models planned for this pack myself ( maybe more if the respones is positive).

Nice set of gears, funny enough I was going to get in contact in a little while and supply a set of cogs for the Pack (static and animated) - Would you still like them anyway?

Please note that I have something else to finish first but will get right onto it asap.

Sure, You can donate anything you want to the pack, as long as it holds to the theme. And no worries on the time frame, as we're just getting started.

Since you got me into modeling, I feel obliged to contribute to this pack aswell.

Well this and the fact that I want to start a cyberpunk project this winter myself It will be named "Emerald Skies".

I tell you that because you started to provide media for it

I'll contribute some gears and guns later in mai

Wolf: You need not feel obligated. You owe me nothing my friend.

These packs are for the FPSC community, not for me. If you feel like donating to the pack great, if not that's OK too. And no need to feel bad if you can't. You've given plenty to the community already! But I'm sure everyone would love some new "Wolf works"!

I'm going to have a crack at the time machine, just to see if I can still model. I can't promise anything and there's not a lot of images to go from, but I'll give it a go.

Do you think we could get a list of media wanted? This may be good for inspiration for us beginner modelers and may reduce any overlap. Wadja think?

Here's what I have so far on the time machine. I'm trying to make it as low-poly as possible while still looking reasonable.

Ched80: Really you can make anything at all, even a cup, and give it a steampunk looking texture job and it would be great. Anything goes as far as items.

Example: Even if we end up with 10 coffee cups by different folks, it not likly they would all look the same.

TGPEG: Hey bro, That's looking Awesome! I like it!

Here is the finished model of the time machine. I'm sorry, but I don't have the time to UV or texture it. If anyone feels they can, I can send it to them. (It'll be in MS3D to give you the benefit of it remaining in groups, but I can export to most things).

Would "Deadwood" be acceptable or will this strictly be British?

Any Steampunk themed media is welcome! Although Deadwood is more in the line of the classic western, the victorian style that was popular in the U.S. during that time, as well as the machinery that was being produced on through the early industrial age, would fall into the Steampunk genra. Such as steam powered vehicles and generators for the prodution of electricity, and such.

Anything that you can dream up, even that which reaches into the far future such as space travel, looked at from the possibility of those achivievments being made without the science related to the modern, advanced technological revolution, or nuclear age would be great.

For example: in the Wells novel "The first men on the moon", The achievment of space travel was concieved, and acomplished, by the gear, and valve mechanics of the ship, and the chemistry of the Anti-gravity element "Cavorite".

Even if you want to do some victorian styled furniture, or buildings, that would be useful as well. I would say that the best example of "American Steampunk" would have to be that of the film "The Wild, Wild, West".

I think the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" had a lot of steampunkish elements too:

as well as "The Golden Compass":

I've read Bill Pullmans Trilogy when it was far from being filmed - it's worth reading all three books. And if someone is looking for a fresh Steampunk Novel, I can highly recommend "The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters" by G.W.Dahlquist, published in 2006. A quite demanding read for any non-native English speaker but fascinating as well as highly entertaining.

I loved Steamboy:

Probably my favorite steampunk movie ever released. The inventions are the best part, along with the steam soldiers and airships.

TPEG: Had to tweak your mesh a bit, but managed to reduce the poly count, and keep the overall look. Hope you don't mind.
