What about GMax??? It's still downloadable from turbosquid and it'slike 3DS Max (I think ver.6 or 7), but with dark Interface and no rendering.

The problem with GMAX is that you have to go against the spirit of the license to convert it .X format. The moderators considered that too close to cheating. You're on your own if you take that path.

Another old favorite of mine is DoGA CGA. It's dirt simple to use and it exports to Metasequoia rather nicely.
DoGA CGA (English) is essentially free for modelling and stills but shareware if you're interested in kicking it up a notch and rendering movies.

Doga was cool, that was the first ever 3D tool I used, as the free version came with my copy with DBC. Certainly worth it for anyone interested in a cheap solution to rendered movies - I don't know if it'll animate characters but I came up with some kickass space ship animated moves with it as it was that easy to use.

May i reccomend that you divide your modellers into modellers an animators?

All those using the old version of this image must change to this image immediately.

I also heard Gmax was really limited, oh well.

I can try but wouldn't I need to have 3 sections since most modellers animate aswell as model.

True. It's probably better as it is, though you could use things like
"METASEQUOIA- Modeller- (Blah blah blah)"
"BLENDER- Modeller and animator- (bla Blha Bhal)"

All those using the old version of this image must change to this image immediately.

I'll try and get it done soon. I think I may have named this thread wrongly too, not many different people seem to be posting, but as long as it's helping some people then it's ok though.

Ok, those 2 added. I hope everyone likes this, I think thats a lot of links so far.

If any of you haven't checked yet, go to the shape shop and art of illusion links, they're brilliant. The shape shop one is fun to mess around in.

EDIT - Hot thread
