No offense, but they look compressed(I know they don't have Phong, or normals, or anything lol just Diffuse.)
But did you export the VTF as DXT5? Uncompressed is better for source, cause from the looks of it they look like photoshopped images from FPSC to Source(Getting a picture, cropping the gun, than overlaying it ontop of a image of source.)

(Oh, and you may wanna fix up the origins, there looks incredibly iffy... O.<, move them up by a little bit and more to the center. that way it'll be much, much realistic.)

Actualy I can remember porting these to CS:S once... Lost the files but I might do it again.

The textures havent been edited at all, they are at their full quality.

I just checked.

Any blurryness is caused by the .jpg's compression.

No, I mean that when you save a image as a VTF file in photoshop or VTFedit there's choices you can make, you can set stuff to DXT5, DXT6 w/e, anyway them things can compress the textures.
So they have to be edited, Seeming that source does not accept Jpeg ;D

Anyway, if it's the jpeg quality thats screwing it over, than ask errant if he has seperate textures for rendering(Or work.) and ingame.(If he does than ask for the higher res uncompressed textures, source will be able to handle them better unlike FPSC.)

None of the textures are compressed. They only look like it because of the .jpg's compression.

Regardless of how nice Errant's weapons look (as they always have), why is this in here? This has nothing to do with FPSC. They were originally made for FPSC, yeah, I get that, but they're just models and now they're in a different engine making this thread off-topic to the scope of the board.

Actually, they are compressed, but without the jpg artifacts, so it looks uncompressed.

Some of the MP9/10 maps were shipped with compression to conserve download size. All maps were .dds except for the hands which were .jpeg. It's best to make sure you're using the newer versions of the hand maps that come in the GCS downloads. They are still .jpeg but less compressed and a larger size (1024 vs. 512). Gun .dds textures from GCS are all full 24 or 32bit, btw. I got the email and will send out the fragmotion-friendly .x files later today, after I take care of some other stuff, hopefully.

Anyhow, I hope mods will allow this topic to stay open for a while. There really isn't a more suitable board on Apollo than here (MPs 9/10 are FPSC products, after all). It's fun, if nothing else, to see someone putting FPSC assets into source rather than the usual reverse trend of "how do I rip media from HL2/CSS into FPSC?"

Well, there is a strange lump (presumabely a stretched/parched finger) on the right side of the first p226 picture. And the fingers stretch and animate wrongly in the animations, particularly the reloading one. I took the less crappy photos i could.

Heh,

It's easy as hell to get the weapons in to Source, just getting the directx models to another format in their native condition is impossible.

As soon as I've got a promising project up and running, EAI says he may give me the original .max files, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

TO get the Source SDK, you need at least one Source game (Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead) for the pc, then you can simply download it free from the tools menu in Steam.

The only problem I see with this is that it may be likely that Errant's media is going to start trailing around the Source community. It seems pretty common for people to grab models from a mod, especially for use in GMOD. It's probably less of a problem with a mod, but giving it out as a GMOD addon would for sure be an issue, as it is practically giving Errant's media away for free.

The only shader in that pic is the water's refraction/reflection shader. There is no lighting, no bump-mapping, no reflection..
