I didn't want to hijack Marc's migration thread so I've made my own. I've wanted ragdoll in FPSC for so long. Now it's here I can't stop grinning about it.

I've put the original video from the migration thread here and 2 more. Hope you enjoy. If you get any cool moments like my last video please upload for all to see:

Original Video

Same level played out twice. Once without ragdoll and then with it.

Totally awesome fall. I love this one.

You can play with ragdoll right now. You can either download the source code and compile it yourself or go to the migration thread and find the post where I uploaded the compiled fpsc-game.exe (you'll still need the scripts from here to use it though).

EDIT
This isn't a mod though, so I can't fix any errors. I just compiled it to help out those who couldn't get it to. It's still a little buggy but works great for the most part.

It looks nice, but in the second video I noticed some of the Characters still fell down using their animation, and stayed like that or switch to ragdoll mode when the animation ended. (e.g. First guy you shot and the second guy on the stairs if I saw it right) Is this a bug in the system or did I just look wrong?

They do fall using ragdoll, you just can't see it very well in the video. The dead bodies pile up on top of each other and you can see it in game but not in the video. IF you look carefully at the second stair guy you'll see his limbs fall down on the stairs.

Judging from the videos, the X9 ragdolls look a lot less jerky than the ones in X10. I can't wait for the update beta to come.

Now we need Fallout 3 style ragdoll...Where the induvidual limbs can actually FLY OFF...Now that'd be cool.

But we have a long ways to go before we get to trivial things like that.

I tried this and I like it, but it seems that if you make a kill with them like on a ledge or something the mesh warps from the ledge down to the floor. It was just a quick test of a floor and one segment above with stairs. I also noticed that when the character died it passed through the segment and landed on the floor.
Other than this it was fun to play around with.

I downloaded the compiled .exe, and installed the scripts to their proper folders, picked a few WW2 char's for the level, ran it...and nothing. Just normal death animations.

Do I have to manually set up any scripts?

You have to assign the ragdoll death script for each enemy.

I just wet my pants, my dream has come true!! Thank you i love you i love you all (and it was about damn time not to be rude or anything)

EDIT: That was totally satisfying!! However the ragdoll did not collide with entity's... And loading time was improved!

EDIT: The collision with ragdoll and entity`s must be a perfect outline for the ragdoll to work properly on it!

Ok, I haven't been a big supporter of adding ragdoll (although I've never been opposed to it being added to FPSC either), but this is awesome! I'm a believer.

It's still extremely buggy. Ragdolls seem to ragdoll on the spot (mostly after playing their die animation).

They seem to fall through things before their die animation completes.

And any explosions won't send a group of them flying, they'll just remain on the spot.

And making a bond1 ultimate zombie ragdoll results in a buggy mess where they collapse in on their knees and have a hanging mouth.

Jeku always gets drunk and tries to Moderate the ocean. Tirelessly slapping the waves as they roll in.

I like it

@Aaagreen
Yes it's still quite buggy but hopefully, as this was not an official release and more of a "have a go if you like" release, it will work better in the real release.

As it stands even with these bugs, it's still making FPSC more fun than before. Use ragdoll on the chainsaw brute boss and his head falls off when he dies and there's some graphical weirdness that goes on after that, but it's still awesome.

That IS possible, you just need to rig the character appropriately.

You probably just need to change the animation frame numbers in the fpe "fallback" animation to use the legacy animation frames instead of my custom anims. Sounds like they are ragdolling at the end of my death animation (on their knees) instead of an upright starting point.

You know, I really like the relative slowness and stiffness of the ragdoll effect so far, like the characters have real weight to them.

Usually in games, characters go immediately VERY limp, like someone has cut the strings on a marionette doll. Limp and jiggly. Know what I mean? Not very realistic IMO.

I'm really liking how ragdoll in FPSC is shaping up so far. Who's with me?

Ragdoll will make games look better but with the crappy character animations,it doesnt even matter. The enemies move like they just developed from a one celled creature and their AI is as inteligent as a stone.

I agree!

This is propably greater than FPSC x10! Ragdoll was the last thing, that x10 had and x9 didn't, but now x9 has it too!

@bond1

The X9 ragdoll already looks better than X10 and its still in beta!

I also think the speed and weight of the ragdoll is looking just right. When the various characters shown fall down the stairs they all look very realistic for their size.

I think this has also been helped by the fact Lee has implemented the latest version of ODE in V117 which has timer based physics.

When you make me have to choose between that and PB you know you're on to something.

I think the ragdoll could maybe a be a bit more limp, but veery little. Maybe make it adjustable. Hey! I think I'm onto something.

Am I the only one who finds the Conker's position in Nomad Soul's signature amusing? Just need to remove the arms

On another note, I built up a left with different platforms and characters...it's all looking good so far.

I think the X9 ragdolls looks way more realistic than most of the AAA games out on the market. Cant wait for the finished update.
