I did drop developing the IDE over the summer, had no time and over the past several months I been getting back at with what little time I have had.

The most of it has been redone, a bit buggy though(with one off the top of my head that needs fixed or you might loose your work ) For the most part its comming along good, just got past a few hurdles in the past couple weeks.

I plan to have it finished, polished up and everything first qauter next year. There will be the plugins required to make DBP run and hopefully a few others. I dont think I'll support the plugin system at release, but a plugin SDK will follow. DBC may be added in the future (not at release).

Demo Updated - November 22, 2005
- Project Manager almost fully functional
- Several bugs fixed with the Project Manager
- Can now add files to and create folders for projects

Known bugs
- Show All Windows and Hide All Windows in the view menu throws an error
- Clicking the Project Manager button in view menu to close it throws an error

Demo Updated - January 6, 2006
- Project Manager fully functional
- Language Editor fully functional (except for the bug below)
- Scheme Editor fully functional

Known bugs
- In the language editor when modifying the parameter help sometime don't work as expected

DARK IDE RETURNS - Yes Dark IDE is still a go!!

sweet, it does like a VB.net IDE, which is good for those who use VB.net and DBP

Not true. He has his thoughts from his own mind. He was agreeing with you and emphasizing the point.

Anyway it looks nice but is it set up so that the line numbers appear as you type or all they all there to start with? I like it the later way.

Very nice, when I've got some time I'll consider switching from BlueIDE to this. (Yes, I'm another of those VB.net froobs.)

Extremely nice interface and looks like it'll be really nice to use...

[Edit: Keep devving, I'll definitely try it out when it works.]

There is a demo in the following post.

Dies on startup, inside of the SyntaxDocument method, called from the BuildLanguage method. Possibly due to the hard-coded path to the syntax file.

Can you post exact text from the error. I think I know where the problem lies.

Edit: Found it, heres the update. And you cannot add files to newly created project, not implemented yet, but can be added to a project manually. But there is a project that can be loaded in the Project directory with everything needed to play with.

Still a hard-coded path . From what I can tell a few lines under the last path. The error catching doesn't really help stating 'The device is not ready.' where in fact the file doesn't exist at all.

Looking into it.

After I get the Project Manager finished, I'm going to put my effort into the Dark Basic side of the IDE and try to get it spiffed.

Edit: LMAO, you are right, 3 lines under is another hard coded path, I fixed the first and left the other

Edit: Heres the update. Drop the file into the Plugins\ directory.

Right, tried it out again. Couple of immediate problems.

First, a not so important problem when applying or OK-ing changes in the preferences. Error is 'Object reference not set to an instance of an objects' in btnApply_Click.

The other problem is not being able to edit sources files. I tried both the included project and File->New->New Dark Basic File. Both have the problem as shown in the image. The document window seems to hang while the app continues.

A suggestion, while opening the WarGame project, it would seem to IDE looks for the stated files in the working directory. This is fine apart from it doesn't allow the easy relocation of a project, and in this case the path is set to your project path. It may be useful to add a fallback to the project file path if a source file isn't found.

Think I had something else aswell, but I can't remember it. Anyway that may be it from me for now as it's just gone 06:25.

The first I realized a couple days ago and have not got to it. It seems to be doing what it should do, but wants to through an error.

The second is wierd. I have a temporary solution for it. Download the The controls from here http://www.compona.com/setup.exe and install. The should fix it for the moment.

The third, I realized this tonight. I will do some updating to it. I think I won't have it save the working directory for the project and just get it from the path that the project was loaded from.

I'll get these three issues fixed before I go to bed.

Gen

Edit: Found the problem with the preference dialog. Going about how to fix it now.

What was the solution to the second problem? I already had Compona installed, so that wasn't going to solve anything. Latest build seems to work fine now.

@GogetaX, you're an idiot, Antidote was right and said what I would have said, he wasn't 'defending' but correcting you, jeez, thats the last I'll ever agree with you.

@ SilentS - Yes I found the problem, once in a while when I compile it screws up and I have to reinstall compona

@ Seppuku Arts - Thanks, there is much more on the way.

There is another update. Updates will be in the first post.

@ x1b - I'm still looking at sometime in March it should be finished. I really havn't touched it over the holidays, and really for the past two weeks, been out of town and quite busy. Compiling is bout the largest chore in getting it to work with DBP.

@ DB newbe - Not at this time, sorry. I'm going to initially release it with DBP support only and within a couple months after try to have DBC working in it also. You can write a plugin for it, should be fairly simple...

Would you all like an update of the demo?

Why reinvent the wheel? I rather but my efforts to other areas of the IDE than try to create something that has already been created. Though I do want to try to create one like the one I'm using, looks like a fun attept.

Just about finished with the langauge editor finally... after rewriting it, I allowed you to have more power with what "set" of keywords you want/need to use.

There is a little more i need to do to it then I'll try to have an update out hopefully within a day or two and you all can test it out if you like.

Heres a screenshot of it:

Anyone? I also have a question... Would you all like to have it ported to .NET 2 before release? With that, there will be things that I add and change that will make the IDE better.

Here is 3 more screenshots. Here you can see different schemes applied to the syntax editor and a new window on the bottom of the IDE. The new window displays a list of all the keywords for DBP.

Here is another screenshot with the Office 2003 Olive Green style.

Next I'm going to add the ability to add media, cursors, and icons to your project. After that, I will work on compiling. Compiling is will be the last thing keep you from creating DBP programs with Dark IDE, but may take some time to do as there is lots that needs to be done to get everything that I need to dofor it and theres quite abit I want to do for it.

Yes, I have my own custom project files that store everything related to DBP and also the directorys for the project manager and where files is at in the project manager, all is in xml.

When I get to compiling, you will be able to save in the dbpro project format and import them. when compiling a temporary dbpro file will be created.

Latest demo is in the first post and in the project directory you can view my project file.

wow, xml. that's pretty cool.
I tried my hand at xml but i wasnt any good at it.

Im working hard trying to fix up the last of the swiftide stuff.

Id love to know how to subclass and fold functions without the user having to click on the text directly.

@ Lukas W - You dont need compona to test my IDE. The download is in first post.
