beta request sent DarkFact.

Quote: "keep an honest person honest, an curious person confused and a hacker very busy"

it would be perfect (for most applications) if it can do this.

No you won't. I got the beta already, and I tried everything on the block. Information is disclosed. I cannot reveal any methods on the forum. And I can almost bet I'm more skilled than you. I've had years of experience, - not much to brag about, though.

Pretty much, theres no way of finding those folders. I couldn't get in the zip.

There's always going to ways to get around a protection system. Like I've said before, no software company (not even Microsoft) can make their software 100% secure. It's just not possible with a computer.

Our goal here is to make it as secure as possible though and that's why we're in beta. This is only RC1. I hope we have a product within a few weeks that is 99.99% secure for both XP and Vista. I'm now working on security code for Vista.

Haha.
There are a few ways, actually.

@AaronG: When you find holes, email them to me. Did you insert the "mod edit" line yourself??

RC2 is on it's way to the testers. Aaron, you're not getting it until you explain youself.

Me, being the average user, couldn't get out of the game while it was running.

i noticed the encrypted game files were zipped?
how did the .exe read the zipped game files?
but in any case they were passworded to keep fingers away from the media

The sad fact is that i can read script, but i just cant write it.

yeah,
the .zip file is the whole point...
If they weren't in a zip, they would be run in the Temp folder like FPS Pack.

@Sly: No, I didn't get one from you. Will you try again please?

@DieRider: The zip key is passed to the file from the exe.

heh, you may have a FEW years of experience but I have spent almost my entire life infront of a computer and you do not know my age. You just think I'm a 10 year old wannabe hacker dontcha Aaron?

A small resume:
I hacked my old school 4 times (the first time with a pal who showed me a few tricks), current one 2 times and when www.try2hack.nl exsisted I got to level 9 - and that was a couple of years ago.

so give me a shot

Well...
My friend, and I-hacked our school once,
and we told the teacher it was us, because we were the only kids who could've done it. So, we got in trouble and never did it again.

And on hackthissite.org, I completed all of the challenges, except actually hacking the sites main server. (the 24th challenge.) I get 2 hours of sleep at night, and the rest im pumping artificial, thick, creamy caffienated blood through my heart when I AM actually awake.

But, let's not get get competetive.

I never liked hackedthissite.org - it had too much of a story which was just really annoying - 'security sam has forgotten to secure this so you can hack the site by doing this:'

it just went over the top - in the real world they dont just tell you the security flaws!

My school uses websence and they left the uninstall in a place I managed to get access to - I wont do it since they know I'm the only one who can. It can be quite depressing to be the best at computers at your school by a mile.

same.
Whenever a teacher had a problem, they'd be like "Please send Aaron G down to the office."

lol.

Hey darkfact,
When IS this coming out? This is a must buy for me.

The title of the thread says "Beta". I see no link to download the beta. All I see is request for money. Do people have to buy the beta or is this just a private beta?

The person that now knows the most started with many questions. Patients and tolorance are the keys to the passage of knowledge. FPSC is Getting better. Now if we can just keep the ball rolling.

Read the thread before complaining about it. There has been no money request, only a statement of probable cost and that was only after people asked for that information.

Read the thread before jumping on me, dude.

incense,
Most people around here just do a closed beta for their apps.
You should know that by now.
The price that was posted is an estimate.
When he is ready to release it he will probably have more definite info on pricing and such.

Dave, thanks for the opportunity to beta test Phoenix.

I should say this has turned out to be an excellent media protection software.

Very good (I daresay impenetrable to the better than average user) protection of the media coupled with a very user-friendly system makes this a great software to indie game developers like us.

Thanks for this Dave.

And also thank you for letting me beta the software, I see alot of profit and pontential in this program.

How could a simple question be concidered "Jumping" on you? Dont be offended. It was only meant as a question. Dont read anything into what I post. I post exactly what I mean. There are no hidden meanings. If I ask a question that is all I have done, no more and no less.

UPDATE:

Pre-sales data is now being collected. If you plan to purchase the basic version at the EA price of $25, email me with "Phoenix PreSales" in the subject. This is just for me to get an idea of the interest in the product. Sending an email does not obligate you to purchase.

The basic version is available now as an EA offering. Consider it an extended beta. EA licensees will get free updates up to v2.

I'd like to get a list of people interested before I post a payment link.
