I have no objections with him giving this away for free. There are people who use these forums that can't afford or can't pay for an app to do this.I appreciate Wetham giving this away for free and I want to thank him for his contribution to the community.

@ Candle_ and Duplex

Thanks for your kind comments guys I have had the idea for an entity creation program buzzing around my head for a while, and from the start I wanted it to be free. I want to produce a tool which gives all FPSC users a chance at making custom content.

I might make a "Pro" version down the line at some point, but this first release will be a free program.

Okey Dokey, I have finished the last of the features and the GUI. The screenshot below shows the final appearance of Entity Workshop 1.0

The GUI includes rollover buttons, information bar ( like a tooltip bar ) and simple navigation.

I recall the need for a measurement tool, this is where the Segment Guide Tool comes in, pressing this button adds a holographic model of an FPSC segment piece. This will allow you to check the height and width of your entities, making sure they conform to the scale of the FPS Creator universe, see below:

The final tool is also a visual aid, the Entity Light tool will toggle the shading properties of your imported entity template. Allowing you to check texture alignments, quality etc without the shaded parts of your object interfering. See below:

I have almost finished the 3D library, then I'll work on textures and bug fixes. The finish line is in sight people!

Thanks for the support guys. Ok, I want to create a mini-site to host the software and provide some info on it, I will probably add a donation button on there

Right, I've been experiencing some oddities with my early models but i think I know what's causing the problem so it shouldn't set me back too far.

Remember what I said about the GUI and features being complete ? Well, I had a wicked idea... and thus......

New Feature!

The Texture Pan Tool allows you to scroll an object texture over it's surface using the mouse. This enables you to position various texture elements into the exact position you desire.

Take the below example:

The above texture has text in the upper corner, if we try to apply it to a cube or rectangular face, the text will remain in this position on the model.

Clicking the Texture Pan Tool button, passes texture scroll movement to the mouse, which ever direction i move the mouse, the texture will follow. So now I can center that text and export to FPSC:

I might be set back a few days with this object problem, but it shouldn't bog me down for too long, then I'll crack on with the textures

This has gone from a simple tool to a full featured program. Excellent add. Thank you.

When it's ready, and with your permission, this should have the "Featured Sotware" spot on fpsFREE.com. Hopefully, we can drive some traffic to that "Donation" button.

Best.

Wow, that holographic thing is really good. Is it like MagicFPS's 'Scale Man?' I found that a bit useless because some things actually obscured the scale man so u couldn't see how big they were. Is this better?

Or course it is.

Cool. In Magic FPS you can do much of that, but that's exactly where MFPS leaves off. I'd love to make a button in MFPS that opens your tool!

The thing I'd really like to see is a simple tool that can import animated characters as entities. The main limitation of MFPS entities is that there's no animation --and I don't have much time to add it.

I really like your interface too! As usual I am humbled by your graphic skillz.

In MFPS it's like:

Will this be able to do segments, I have to make some demos for a publisher in double quick time, I need to make a lot of custom segments, I never applied for a credit card so I cant get magic fps, and putting money into paypal takes about 9 days, so Id be stuck with the regular segment maker to get the job done, if this can do segments as well as entities it will save me a whole lot of work.

Wehtam, i have been to almost all of your threads here on TGC and i would just like to say

I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOU AND CANT WAIT FOR ANYTHING YOU PUT OUT, such as beyon life, i really wish you would post a demo, but take your time if you need to, i could really use help from someone so professional as you, heck, i am honored to just be posting in your presence, PLEASE HELP ME

sorry about the off topic.

GREAT LOOKING SYSTEM THOUGH!!! You really pulled it off, and for FREE, wow! You r the best wehtam

PS: Could you update your site, maybe make a section for all your new games and applications (eg: beyond life or even this, the Entity workshop)

by the way, i think you should buy some patents if you have the money, maybe start a real deal computer game and application company

Sorry if i am rambling on, and sorry for the off topic, but you should make a model pack, or even better, make a multiplayer update pack, featuring different gameplay modes and more than 8 players

Hi guys, it's been a while. Time for some replies...

First of all, Entity Workshop won't be covering Segments. You can of course create segment sized entities, but there won't be any official segment support. I might go back and touch up the No Frills Segment creator at a later date.

Uberdroid:

Cheers for the kind words Workshop is designed to be a quick tool for entity creation and exporting. It won't support segments and currently it doesn't have some of the more advanced export options, unlike MagicFPS, which is a complete solution to custom content creation.

Dr Distracto:

Hehe, thank you! I'm glad you like what i do. Hopefully a demo of Beyond Life will be released when TGC upload the TGC/Nvidia compo entries.

I'm going to create a mini-site for Workshop. Not sure about a complete site revamp though..... maybe when i get the time.

Thanks for your other suggestions

Right Back to the program....

Currently ALL of the features are in place. Remember what I said a few posts back, about predicting scale problems when importing user meshes ? Well it happened, but I created a fix. Entity templates are scaled differently to other meshes ( long story involving Milkshape and Cinema ), so I created a new button. The FPSC ENTITY IMPORT button allows you to import/edit/export FPSC models, maintaining the same scale attributes.

With this tool, developers can import their own models and edit them in exactly the same way as an Entity Template. Users can also import models from the FPSC model packs, change their appearance, then throw them back into FPSC.

Turning something old into something new:

Here is an old friend from the SciFi stock:

I change the scale values, texture, UV size and position:

I export into FPSC with 2 mouse clicks:

wow ! havn't posted here in a wile!

well anyway, that looks great, does it auto create the scripts and makes it 100% FPSC ready? If so thats sweet, i think making a full simple modeling programe, and then you can click a button and make it FPSC Ready (by modeling i mean like been able to fully edit a shape and edit faces and points)

can't wait till you release it

@ Dr. Distracto to post an image for your signature you have to have it first url and then post [ img ] bore it, then [ /img ] after the url, so it would look like this but withoutthe spaces.

[ img ]www.blahblahblah.com/image.gif[ /img ]

P.s. Wetham it's looking really good! I can't even tell you how great this looks, and your noFRILLS, is pretty cool but whenever theres a Black on a segment, it makes a hole sometimes.

to the ones thats trapped inside of you, this is it!!
