Worked fine for me with no consernable lag. The dreaded 'more than 3, let's stand around' did occur with the soldiers but I'm sure you'll get round that. There was a texture missing; was there a jukebox in the room up the stairs at the beginning, against the wall? It was just a pure white model. Also parts of the level disappeared then reappeared then disappeared then.... (especially through the duct) don't know if that was your game or FPSC (what version are you using?) Also nice to see a few of my models are being used

Yes theres a jukebox in the bar, I'll have to double check that. Seems theres some problems with the vents so I'll have to redo those. And I'm using 1.08. Thanx Nickydude

Ok, I tried playing again, and took screenshots of the problem areas I mentioned.
It's not that I fell through the floor, but instead that you could simply just walk or jump to places that led to areas you're not supposed to see. Also, the vents were made of fail, entering would cause segments to flicker and disappear. You're using shaders, so normally that would be the first bet as to why the game's breaking, but I've had no problems with FPSC shaders before, so it's kinda mystery.
The lag is probably at least partly because of my comp. I'm running on a very low-end system.

The images;
1: At the beginning, walk up the stairs and you can go through the door and just walk outside the level.
2: At the yard with the cars and the soldiers, you can use the trashcan to jump over the fence, leading you outside the level again. I first thought that's the way I'm supposed to go...
3: The vent of fail. Entering the vents or just standing close makes the segments go crazy.
4: I couldn't progress, because I couldn't walk through the vent door at the end.

You should sort those out, as well as the enemies, try spawning the enemies or using less of them, because they're really harmless right now.

I finally got it to work. The following are a few hints, tips and suggestions.

1.When I began an image suddenly appeared on the screen which my mission and a sudden sound effect played at the same time. I didn't like the fact that as soon as it loaded you took a step and the game cut to an image. I think perhaps using voice overs would be much, much better as they wouldn't break up the action. Also, the random sound effect made me jump.

2.The AI was extremely unresponsive. Use Airslides AI, it's very good.

3.The segment and jukebox glitches need to be sorted out.

4.Perhaps add more sound effects and music, becuase the atmosphere at the moment is "An fps game". Try and create a powerful atmosphere

5.The skybox I beleive should mabye be changed. The beautiful and sunny a the moment and from the name of your game I would atleast expect SOME form of interesting sky. I'm sure there are some packs with plenty on here.

6.Your levels were long which is good, however I got SERIOUS lag from the beginning of the second level. I am running a high end PC with a quad and a 8800 GTS.

7.Perhaps use more story driven events. More contact with your commander and little things that happen on your travels. This builds characterisation.

8. When professional designers create levels, they use visual clues to show the player where to go next.

An example of this: At the start of the second level it took me ages to realise that I could use the small bricks to jump over a fence which had previously barred my way. I had seen the fence before and immediately related it to a blocked path, plus the size of the bricks also put me off.

Overall it was one of the better games I have played, but I was a little disapointed.

I just played it, I thought it was awesome. Pretty laggy at times but awesome. One of the best games with FPSC I've EVER played...except for my games, of course. lol. But seriously, that was really good.

Yeah sorry, work just got a lot worse.. My buddy recently quit so I got bumped up to manager, so my hours went up a lot more.. Only one week left of class so I'll have more free time soon. I'll try to get some work done later this week

@Twitch, That was a font. (I'm fond of using fonts since they're vector graphics.)

@darimc, Not so; I knew a colleague that does webpages sicker than mine (or shall I call it disease)

@Slayer222, I'll be putting some simple CSS so it will be centered. Or I'll use Dreamweaver. My eyes turned too white using notepad

Well I got some time to work on the game again today. I went back and changed some of level 1. I fixed the 3 soldier that dont attack you by the cars, and removed the glitchy vents. Theres now an old living room that you go through that had a basement door that leads down to the pipeworks. I'm in the process of editing some of level 2 right now. Hopefully I'll get some more time to find the problems with level 3+4 this week so I can put out a demo of all 4 levels.

Well I got a new demo created. Level 4 is still getting an error, and if it keeps up I'm gonna just scrap level 4. The new demo contains Levels 1, 2, and 3. I went back and edited the bugs that you all found, so I hope this is better. I also changed the sky to match the game's name a little better. I'm still looking for a more suitable sky, but this will have to do for right now. I would love to see a city sky with this type of effect, but for now it'll do.

BTW, the site's intended for IE7 users. (mozilla's kind of something 'cause it cuts off download when it's timed out, leaving a corrupt file.) I tested it in IE6 and the alpha doesn't go the way it should be.

REVIEW - Nitty gritty

LEVEL 1
The first level has been revised. I immediately felt respect for Twitch as he'd actually taken on the majority of problems, not just bugs, but little things like my suggestion to have the objective appear right after loading etc. Overall it was better gameplay wise.

GAMEPLAY
I was disappointed that Airslides AI wasn't there. It is REALLY good and it's free too. Just something to download and slap onto the enemies, makes them much more challenging and that allows you to take out some, decreasing lag.

DESIGN
-I would like to see alot more lightmaps. I know some areas were supposed to be dark, but if you look at the old Demon Sun thread the creator managed to implement alot of lighting into his dark environments.

-I'd like to see a more detailed story than "here's your objective, do it". Although you have a great backstory we are told none of this ingame. People will enjoy your game much more if you add some personality to it.

You can do this by:
- Loading screens, perhaps written like old newspaper articles? Each screen explains a small part of the games past and you gain an understanding of the situation the more levels you play.

- VOICE OVERS! Even ask someone on the forum to voice act! So far you have 3 characters:

- You've got the player, who is called "Biggs".
- A comrade who gets killed
- A commander who speaks to you via messages.

I'd like to see the little messages going, in place of voice overs. A little beep and a radio message, it would add so much more to the game. (This can be done by recording sound through your speaker via audacity).

At the moment you have a "game", you shoot people. By incorperating voice overs etc, it will become much more realistic and intersting. Sorry, I'm rambling on here.

LEVEL 2
I'll keep this brief. Lag was a little better, but still got it, possibly due to the amount of enemies?

Found it difficult to climb over that fence. I think you need a red light or something above it so that people know that its the way forward. I spent a good 30 seconds trying to get over. Someone who hasn't played the game before would probably give up. I think some fog in the sewer might be cool too.

LEVEL 3

Was good but I found that I tripped over weapons. They were everywhere, making older ones useless. There was also a load of ammo. Use checkpoints but without the annoying "ping" as I had to move through the entire level to get back to the end when I was killed by the second last bad guy. There was also a cabinet or something in the last room without a texture.

To get the revolver, there was a little puzzle, that was nice but I would prefer a box stacking thing, as jumping from inbetween 2 pipes wasn't the most obvious or easiest thing to do in the world.

I'd also like to hear snippets of music, just little tracks to highlight certain points like in HL2.

I am sorry for rambling on. I'm a tough critic But I personally just want the game to be as good as it can possibly be. I really hope you take this onboard!

Thanks for the review butt monkey I was thinking about adding some voiceovers in like you said. I'll try to get some small little scripts typed up and see if anyone is up to doing them on the forum here. I will for sure look into Airslides's AI sometime later this week. Just a little busy with work so I'll have to do it during my free time.

At the moment I'm tryng to get airslides AI working.. I change the enemies main ai to general_standard. When I enter the room I get bombarded with immensive lag, dropping the fps to around 7-8 and most of the enemies are just running into the walls in the direction that I started. Any1 ever experience this?

Your using this version, correct? I haven't worked on my AI in ages, but I do remember that it is rather intensive on the engine. Make sure that when you have alot of enemies or when smarts isn't a priority to use a "dumber" stock AI. My AI swaps through multiple scripts and does ALOT of sensory checks and what not.

Been busy with work, and was working on some models, and had some baaaad stuff go down today. My house started on fire... Wasnt too bad, only like 5 feet of the siding got burned off and a little bit of the fiberglass and wood underneath.. The fire dept. has no idea what started it, and it wasnt electrical. Only thing we can think of is some1 was driving by and threw a cigarette out their window. It was really windy today and we figure that the cig blew in2 some mulch in front of my house and smoldered for awhile then caught fire, cause its been pretty dry lately... But I have started to work on a new level. Its gonna take place in a subway tunnel. You'll have to run through the tunnel and make your way to a secret russian base. I'll try to post some screens later tonight or tomorrow.

Sorry about your house twitch, hope everything goes well for you. I played your game, and its really good. I just had a little problem with lv 2. The snipers or guys in the posts got alot of damage. I kept hiding behind the trailers and still kept getting hurt. The game started quick and got real slow when i pick up the guns. The game goes very quick when i press 0 to put the gun away tough. Still, the level design was the best for the type of location you set the game in. So were the models you put in the game.
