EDIT: Here is a video clip of the Shroudling. I am hosting all my videos on the VIMEO website. It's MUCH better than Youtube, and can stream high-def videos. The great thing is, if your internet connection can't stream the video, you have the option of downloading the source video to your computer. Look in the right hand section of the page for the download option.

VIDEO: http://www.vimeo.com/980175

Straight out of a Clive Barker nightmare comes "The Shroudling". I actually made this before the Seeker, I wanted to mess around with cloth in 3ds Max as a modelling tool. So I finished him up.

I'll post a video later today, expect lots of shambling and blood curdling moans of pain and anguish. Really creepy, makes you wonder what it looks like under that shroud. Great for Silent Hill type horror games.

Two new walk cycles, 2 new melee attacks, and a creepy intro animation.

@GOTH 1 SNIPER,

stop complaining, its a $50 engine... you get what you pay for. Of you don't like it, go make your own engine... since you won't exactly get alot better with drag and drop then FPS Creator. unless you want to program for it.

@Bond, looks pretty awesome. Really makes me wonder what goes on inside your head...

What would have been good, is a few misshapen / unusual lumps on the head so you really wonder what he looks like under the shroud.

Looks like he'll fit right in with the rest of the "Below" cast. Can't wait for this and your other new characters to join in the fun.

Best.

It won't be anything close to an arm and a leg once the store opens, in fact you could probably find enough money under the seat of your car. Makes me nervous pricing this stuff so low, but I have faith in the TGC machine.

@Black Terror - best way to contact me is via email, I've never been to keen on messenger.

@Nickydude - v109 opens up a lot more possibilities for non-human enemies. What would people like to see? Rats, rabid dogs, alien spider like creatures? A few of these will probably be next after I finish up some zombies.

thanks everyone, I have to go moan and make gutteral noises into a microphone now.

It would be cool to see some monster similar to the demons in Quake 1. A shambler or shalrath like creature would look so cool.

If you get mad and want to type something nasty about another person do this-Type what you want to say in the box then press ctrl-a and hit delete then type what you should say.

Bond i didnt read the full thread so bear in mind if this has been answered already

what are your intentions with these uber smexy horror characters, are you hinting at the fact that you might make a horror media pack? has that already been announced? etc etc. either way, fantastic model, and it deserves to be in my fpsc library lol

and i think you should make a horror media pack, it'd make me a happy panda lol

Hehe, boss characters are definitely something that FPSC is lacking. I can now do advanced rigging that allows me to hide parts of a character inside the mesh, which mean I could have characters that sprout tentacles, an alien head, etc. Would be great for boss characters.

I know you're joking about the "free" part, but before I put my time into more advanced stuff like this, I'll have to see if there is a market for it in the TGC store. Right now, I spend about 3-4 days on a character. Any more than that is not a good use of my time. I need to make sure that I can at least break even and hopefully turn some sort of profit, which means I'll need to sell A LOT of these characters on the TGC store. The amount of money I have invested in software is more than the cost of my computer and FPSC several times over. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, because I'd love to be able to do some more advanced stuff with characters.

I can see:

1) leaching.
2) Over sized polygon limit for fpsc.

Asking for somthing for free means leaching.

Having a 100k object in fpsc would give you... -100fps.
The recomended limit is 3000 polys and below.
not 100k.

Cool, but if its in the store and you're getting it, then you're placing it in the levels...because I dont want to burn my money right now(Nathans budget: £15.)

Thanks FredP. They are sitting in a locked cage on a TGC server Ready to bring hell to earth as soon as the store opens, which I hear will be very very soon. But you know how that goes, it'll be ready when it's ready.

Bloody stumps, now that's right up my alley Xplosys, I've always had a thing for the dark and twisted ever since I was a kid, I just have to keep it under control now, because other adults tend to slowly back away from me when I start talking about bloody stumps and how cool they are.

@Punk13: RE4 is still my current favorite game, and I would absolutely love to make an El Gigante style boss character! When he busts open that gate, King Kong style, is my favorite crap-my-pants gaming moment.

1024x1024 texture size in the pics above, although my original Photoshop file is 2048x2048, which will probably be used for the X10 version of this character.

Don't forget TGC's cut, so double that now! (+20% lol)

Yeah, I'll second that one!

That's when you smile with wide eyes and slowly ease towards them.

I'm crossing mine too then, because I want to get my hands on those models when you do.

I have only one question...
Have you been letting your wife do the textures again, because those painted toenails are a dead give away?

lol
