@Dark Coder,

This is probably a silly question because I'm sure it's nothing I can afford right now, but what modeling program are you using?

I mean seriously, that looks like a photograph of a plastic model !!

Outstanding stuff.

KISTech doesn't make any difference what modeler you're using really, just the amount of skill you have

True. I've seen some really good stuff come out of Blender, but I just can't wrap my head around the interface. I'm getting the hang of MilkShape when I need to change something that no other app that I use will do it properly.

Most of my stuff I do with gameSpace.

I use blender, and I honestly think that the interface is the most intuitive I have ever used(and I have used several others) but there is obviously a learning curve but hey! I think it's worth it!
But then again, I'm a blender fanboy I guess, and it is just a personal opinion I still like other softwares though.

I completely agree with you Alucard94, BLENDER is really good! I don't see any other program that lets you make and comb hair!

(Is there? I am not sure)

The problem with blender for most people is they think it is hard. I started with blender, and it is fine for me, so I think it is complicated but good.

Although I would like to know what settings and what not dark coder used for that render though, looks awesome. Mind telling us/me?

Another Update! Still adding details...

I still need to add some more details to the back and then do the bottom and then I should be ready for the texture Although I don't see how I could win with Dark Coder competing

theres no use in using a single refernce in this compo

heres a update

ive started this model so ill see it trough till the end -even though theres no chance of winning...

whats the limits on the poly count
and the prise so far

update 2

the stats are on the pic

ill leave it for now and start up on it again later

-i love compos they give you direction to what you need to do ^_^

yay ^_^

hmmm one problem when i went to render my frigate facilty something screwy happened and i lost about 10 stages - am now back up to just after installing the facility -_-

anyone know a prgram that can make a model out of pov ray files?

all good remade it and now it looks better ^_^

update frigate bay;

they are redeemers' defenders of the redeemed

The people are redeemed for there sins brought up in the lazerus incdent
and so the redeemers are those who plight the sined

confusing i know ^_^
i like to palay with words

hmmm uv mapped it but my renderer is having none of it...

i use AC3d so a external renderer is needed so i choose pov-ray

which is recomended, so after waiting 2 minuets for it to render it says somthing like, can not allocate to 1024 uv map, highlights the texture load line in yellow and cancels the render -_-

annoying...

any ideas?
i ve tried jpg and bmp now, same crap

edit
i accidently found a button which spun my model so i done this ^_^

sorry for download cant find a host for swf's

1.5mb

Well I'm going to try something, just working from the interior and out - of course I won't do an entire interior, but some just for show and I'm making it game quality, but lets see how far I get.

Here is a garage bay:

and a second room (which is connected via a corridor)

Cheers.

It's an area I'm trying to extend to - I've done too much organic modelling, as I might end up using this, why not take an opportunity to do some map making? Though I think what I've got so far is still a little bare - but I'll probably build some loose objects and drop them in (if I have the time, I've got a few more rooms to design and then texture them - my main hall has 3 extra corridors leading off of it, so I ought to use them - perhaps dorms, an elevator room and restaurant.

Now that I think of it, it does sound like that.

What I meant was that the texture had a lot of details. I have control over my modeling, but I have like no control ove my textures, mostly because the UV map that I try to edit has many things that I can't tell where they belong, or what they are.

Yeh I suck at texturing also. Probably the reason I haven't gotten into organic modelling much, is that it would require either a very complex model or a simple texture to get the all the details, and I'm not so good at making either.

It's my own thing - I'm trying to get my level modelling skills up, so my space ship will focus mostly on interior design.

I think Sepp's interior model adds another dimension to the competition, and I have nothing against it. It'll be how the users interpret the main theme of the competition and how they vote that matters when the entries are in. The competitions are all about getting people to come out and practice there skills in new ways, and I think Sepp's got the right idea.

I thnk it's the main point of these compos, take the theme, let your mind run wild and see what you can achieve and focus on what skills you think need improving and showing them off.

Did you model all of those little extra things and just set them on the ship?
