what version do you have?
Also, try pressing F3. that turns on the smooth shading, as opposed to just a wire frame.

EDIT: upload a more zoomed in pic of the material editor so I can see if you have it right.

youse the keyBoard and press (Print Screen) then open paint and press Ctrl+V Button Then Save it on a Location as. jpg then upp load the .jpg image

No, Printscreen is the button next to scroll lock. It is at the top of the keyboard, above the insert, home, and page up keys.

well im making it for fps or into a x file does it matter if i cant get the texture in 3ds max .
at least if i have the unwrap map thing will it work when im exporting it? i now im a real noob

Here is a short video on placing textures on an object. No audio, sorry. Toward the end there I just drag and drop the texture on to the sphere.
