I believe that it's either both buttons at the same time, or the middle button......

@Ply

I posted up my suggestions on what you missed out but my post still has yet to be approved, even though I am now off post approval......

New script looks good, I'm seeing about making that condition a reality, thanks to your tut and the DBP trial, I'll need you to compile it and see if it works though, I don't have DarkLights, just DarkPhysics (free with the free trial, my full DBP hasn't arrived yet).....

Alarm Challenge:

For my new challenge, you are to create an alarm system.

NOTE!!!
The script MUST be compatible with V1.07 of FPSC... so NO VARIABLES!!!

When the player is within a certain distance from a security camera (A wall mounted entity) an alarm will trigger which will do the following:

- Activate red lights that are normally off.
- Turn off normal lights.
- Activate guards behind locked doors, to make them spawn.
- Activate the guard doors so the guards can get out.

If the player does DAMAGE to the security camera it will deactivate the camera, and prevent the alarm from being triggered if the player approaches. The camera should reactivate after a set amount of time.

If the player DESTROYS the camera, it will activate the alarm.

Once the alarm is activated, it will deactive after 20 seconds.

You do not need to script the guards.

You DO need to have a script for the following:

- Alarm Lights
- Regular Lights
- Security Cameras
- Security Doors

You may begin!!!

Just do it and post what you make in here.

What would be good is if somebody were to collect all the challenges that work and send them to me for inclusion in the next revision of the guide. What would be better is if they were fully commented so new users could understand the scripts workings.

You may begin!!!

@Nickydude:

I'll consider doing that after a few more challenges... and maybe when a few more people join in. *hint hint*

Oh and.... nice extro!

@meteorite:

Sounds good.

And... forever. Clicking "more" in the emoticon list sure does help.

Alright, I finished

Door

Camera

Camera destroy script

Guard appear Script

Alarm light

regular light

There... all done

-edit- my script assumes camera is a character, without entity health modifiers, I saw no concievable way of checking to see if the cam took damage, so I just used shotdamage which is internal for characters

-edit-
I have the newer version of the camera script included as an edit

When the alarm deactivates... you need to activate the entities with a value of 0, not 1

Also, you're missing a colon in your camera script.

Double post:

Don't use healthless... because once it reactivates, then it'll activate again because the health wasn't regenerated... use shotdamage like you had been doing.

Alright, my challenge

Make a script emulating stealth

Details

1. can only be seen in the light

2. when seen by the enemy, the screen goes black and you are teleported into a jail cell

3. If shot or if a noise is heard, the enemy detects you

Please dont look up mine as a reference :p

-edit-
use as many scripts as necessary

I think if the amount of scripts is not given in the challenge then you may use as many as you'd feel is necessary for the challenge to be completed.

The way I would do it (And have done it) would be to give a custom script to the lights as well.

This script can also be achieved without the use of variables, though they make it a tad easier.

I wish I could track down the people who constantly use the name "Plystire" on MMOs that I've never played before.
I mean, it's an awesome name, but get your own.

@ Ply-You could always try "spiffsta"

@ Hybrid-As for the matter of how you do it, I dont care how many scripts, a script for the lights isnt necessary, but I guess it could be done if ply managed it

The way I did it, I used variables, and I didnt script the lights personally, but I have an idea of using lights

I refuse to use that name now. It has lost all meaning to me. I would rather use "*************" than use that name.

Hey nickydude, if we manage to keep the thread on topic, and if ply feels the same way of course, I think this would go well as a sticky, scripting knowhow is very much needed in the community.
