Thanks for the comments all!, its a real inspiring boost to know that most people like my work I dont plan on posting any shots tonight.. Im going to indulge in a little online fragging..and then continue with the game from tomorrow onwards. Oh, and if any of you have Xfire, feel free to add me under the name tag: creatorofzombies .
@lllstrikesmember 2: I dont plan on auditioning for Beta testers at the moment, but I will bear you in mind. Oh, and why 3 times in a row? (Please you the edit button in future!)

Stay tuned

You want to set the ambient light very low, like really low, and stick some slight brownish fog in, otherwise its too dark, but with the changes see above it sorts that out and gives a good effect, I remember seeing that with angelhearts blade runner map for ut3/4k.

Hello all,
Okay, here is a general qurstion for you all. How many of you would be interested in getting your hands on the modded DS engine? I ask this due to popular demand..with such accompanying comments as "Can I have your new modded engine please". So, to avoid being mean, I am considering releasing this modded engine to the community..after all;, FPSC V2 Doesn't seem to of graced us yet, so I figure this is the nearest you will get in terms of a Gfx Mod that doesnt kill your framerate. So please share your thoughts

Oh and expect some shots tomorrow!!

*raises hand while jumping up and down rapidly* ME!

*feels sick from jumping up and down so much*

I'd love to play around with it. Is it a source mod requiring 1.07/1.08, or is it what I think it is and a modification to the shaders and such?

I would absolutely love to have such a great mod! I would easily pay $25 for the dll's alone. (considering that's what the mod is, correct?)

Okay all..I shall consider the available options about the modded DS engine

@Taz: The effects do not effect the Fps at all. I get a solid 38fps throughout on large maps

[Important quote from the X-Tasy thread]
Quote: "CoZ sends his Regards, he said he is done with fpsc. if anyone has anything to say about me announcing this maybe CoZ will pop in the future to say it himself.

but

consider all CoZ threads Dead. This includes DS game thread, and this mod thread. He has left fpsc for good.

Edit - CoZ just informed to also let everyone know, that him leaving fpsc will not be the end we will be seeing of him. His plans include coming back to DBPRO or leadworks engine after his little "Break" from fpsc.

BOTB Developer? Well I guess he might have been.

Hope you come to your senses quickly and get that update posted before it's more than just your license documentation thats brought into question Coz. Otherwise good luck writing a new game engine or at least figuring out how to write ALL of your own A.I for Leadwerks as it doesn't have any.

Seriously though, stop freaking out and get on with the job at hand. Your supposed to be a developer not a politician.

You act like this is unusual for a game engine?

Shame COZ is going. But ultimately its his decision. Putting him down for leaving FPSC and opting for something superior is hardly going to bring him back.

Yeah its a shame...that demon sun isnt going to be finished.

But! Why is he leaving? Just because some people said that his mod wasnt his mod?
They were right! And he shouldnt get mad about that.
Boris is the one that should be mad.

Agreed. I just think it's ridiculous that a good FPSC developer would leave in such a way. Doing so when you've made a mistake just makes you look guilty instead of just raising your hand, putting it right and moving on.

Totally agree with you Cheese Cake. This wasn't a big deal just a small matter of pride. If he leaves because of it thats a real shame.

Okay, let me clear something up.
The reason I am thinking of leaving FPSC is not because of what happened with the MOD, I couldn't give a flying crap about happened concerning Nighthawk etc, and we have no problem with each other etc.
This is all based upon the fact that I simply don't work with FPSC enough to be able to produce DS to your expected standards. For example, I will have few days where I will work on DS alot, and get loads done, and then I end up not working on it again for a week because I end up doing loads of other stuff such as partying etc! ..and I don't feel it would be fair on you to keep you waiting that long for DS...because fair play, you guys have waited nearly 3 years and stuck by me through it, So i respect you all for that. I do like FPSC alot, but I don't manage to get game dev done on a daily basis..and sometimes I consider moving up to Dbpro because you have more power over your games etc.

But if anyone thinks I'm wrong or has a opinion on what I have just said...Please post now of forever hold your peace.

Thanks for clearing this up Coz.

I'm not sure how moving away from FPSC to alternatives which require coding in addition to everything else is going to help with your available development time.

Quote: "But if anyone thinks I'm wrong or has a opinion on what I have just said...Please post now of forever hold your peace."

FPSC has come a very long way with the mods available and these dx9.dll modifications are adding yet another element for developers to use in their games.

I can understand people might want to give Leadwerks a try as its technical specs are impressive but it doesn't look like something you can just dip into and use when convenient like you can with FPSC. If you want a game engine that won't punish you for going out partying the night before then it has to be FPSC.

Is it really worth all that extra effort for unified lighting and shadows and large terrains?

I would wait to see what the FPSC migration versions for X9 and X10 bring before making your decision.

I'm back guys... and that means Dusk is too.
I Can't wait to see this one role out either.
Josh, if you don't mind, I'm looking into that DS engine.
Since I plan to do a DX9 version only for now... I
might need the bloom aspect of it.

Thanks

@ All: Im currently researching New engines to Go with:
So Far I am considering The Source Engine, Tourqe or the Unreal Engine, But I have yet to decide what I would like to go with. And before all of you yell DBpro..DBpro is not that much better than FPSC, and is still quite weak to terms of current gen features. Im planning on moving up to something more Pro (like Nick Did..He moved to tourqe), and Im just finding FPSC too limiting. I rather spend 6 months learning the tourqe engine or whatever, but then make better looking games than stick with FPSC, with majorly outdated tech and loads of limitations (sorry to bash it guys)

Yeah... you're getting somewhere but why not release DS since
you're so close? We're dying to play it and really... DS is as
limiting as your mind lets it be. Look at E.L.E and tell me you can't
do anything with this engine.

its not fair to compare E.L.E to anything else on these forums, that is the first solid working team, probably paying $ to keep everything working and keeping the team motivated. And since tgc doesnt allow team requests on the forums its kinda hard to even try and match their quality.and they have actual revenue....thats like comparing EA to tgc, it just isnt right.

I don't care about graphics, I care about gameplay.

Gone is most likely leaving FPSC too, heading over to Dim3.

I'm still sticking around to release some yummy content though.

ASTEK:

Show me some progress (nearly finished game) and I'll go through the trouble of rigging the character.

It's too much of a hassle to do otherwise.

Well... I'm stretching FPSC.
And Dusk has been corrupted. I have all the blueprints of the
maps and remaking them wont take very long.

I also cannot show you a complete game... as I plan this to be
vast in levels.

I am still interested in your old characters you had if you don't
plan to re-rig the model. I can stretch it man.

Game play is very important... yeah, but I believe I'm working
towards both.

Also... I'm looking at the DS engine with a raised brow.
It seems it would be very helpful and I don't really want
the motion blur... so don't worry. I might pull that out.

Thanks

I think if he is leaving, he should released the unfinished game, make people remember you for something great. No matter, you will always be a top fpsc developer in my eyes. Good luck.

Well, after looking at all the different engines available, I have finally decided that for what I want to do (which is Game Dev that won't punish me for going out and partying), FPSC seems to cut the mustard...so It looks like im staying. I just wish TGC would hurry up with this bloody V2.
