Remember, Jon once told us he doesn't use the forum as he's busy. But then that due to his animation course, which I don't know if he's still on.

I hope he enters. He's really good at making simple ideas awesome.

huh?

that might have been a year or something ago.

I know i tend not to post here very often, not sure why.

Btw, UV's done and i've started the texture. It's going to be on a 256x256 map.

Epic. Reminds me of Rayman 2 for the good ol' N64.

And the untextured version reminded me of the Moustached Deku Man who gives you the useless "Mask of Scents" in Majora's Mask.

Hehe, epic! So what's he smoking there? Both yours and Jon's texturing skills are top notch, I'm jealous.

Edit: Supposedly the 'm' word is language filtered and it won't let you post it in a thread.

haha, sweet.

the character's sihlouette reminds me of OoT, or the Deku i think they were called.

Texture is a little sharp, making it a bit hard to read in places, but nice job! what is the texture size btw?

Finished the main body:

Still gotta do the exhaust/fuel container on the back and presentation.

I'll put this one up for download as an SDK when im done.

I guess I went crazy with sharping I do it a lot last time.
The original texture is 512 but I converted it to 256 because I didn't saw any of good details in it.
Preview with out sharping is attached.

Love your work , hue is just amazing...

I haven't made any models in a while so I'll make a small entry; a trebuchet! I've been working on this wood for a few hours now and it's been quite hard. I'll play around with it a bit more to see if anything good comes out of it. Puns aside, there are so few good reference pics of medieval trebuchets and they all differ in many areas so it's hard to know what to add and where, but oh well, here's it so far:

Hey that's really cool. I remember back in high school I had to build one of these for my physics final project. We just had to fling a water balloon 20 yards...mine flung it over 100 yards.

Anyway, looking good.

You guys are going to make it very hard for us judges to decide winners for all three categories...that's awesome! Keep up the good work everyone, only a few days left to get your entries in the final entries thread.

I'm an intermediate at modeling, and a novice at everything else. I was going to smooth my model, but then I decided that that rubber-like shine wouldn't be on wood. Anyways, Here's my entry: It took me about 7 hours to make the model. Its modeled after Queen Anne's Revenge, and has a lot of details that are missing or quite different from the real ship. As for texturing I don't think I'll get to that. As you can well imagine it would be hard to texture this model. I didn't include sails, flags, or ropes because I thought this is, after all, a wood based competition. I could add the stuff mentioned, but then I would have to texture, and the UV mapping would kill me . Edit: Oh and if anyone's curios the model consists of 3492 quad and triangle polies, and if I converted them all to triangles than it would be 6004 triangular polys. I hope I took no one's idea, I was just thinking of wooden objects and then I noticed the "Pirates" book I had and it so happened to have 10 drawings of pirate ships, along with a detailed picture of Queen Anne's Revenge, outer and interior, labled, so I couldn't resist making it . If I did accidently take someone's idea, then I wouldn't have a problem making another model and changing this post, I mean, there are many things made of wood in our world. EDIT EDIT: Ok, I have my backup idea. And this one I might actually texture .

If it's not too late to enter an entry, then here's my backup in case anyone claims I took their idea for the pirate ship, then I'd rather this be my entry: And this model is simple enough for a novice like me to at least UV map and texture . (The glass of the clock will be alphad out to be transparent when I texture it). Texturing will be done tommorow, if that's not too late either. EDIT I was busy today, but found some time, and am almost done texturing. I'll post the model tommorow (textured). PS, instead of the ship this is my model entry, and when is the contest over?

Okay i lied about not entering lol I started this at about 12ish and spent time dabbaling between COD and drawing along with this ofc.

Matchstick model lol,

None of these sticks have been editied its the same shape throughout just at different angles and some slightly overlapped behind them. Didnt want to completly overlap them that would defeat the point lol

This was more of a personal challenge and worked out pretty well, you cant really see it clearly but its a dragon head, side view,

Ill have it finished today, Am going to do a wood textrue for each part, so the inner mouth darker eyes bluish tinge ect.

Ok, my final entry: I deleted the glass, because I didn't have enough time to make that. And yes, I don't want the pirate ship to be my entry. I reread the forum, and I wasn't aware that someone else had the idea for a boat or a ship. Sorry about that.

I am not a freakin happy bunny...

I opened my the scene file for the matchstick dragon, and it asked to find the jpg' i used, (moved it off the desktop) so added the directory to where it was, i put it in the same one as the file and lo and behold it removed all my backup increments and the freaking renders. Even the file i was just using...

The files are gone, ive seacrhed the entire hdd disk for the file, file type, related searchs ect. Gone. Just gone...

Has anyone else ever had this problem with max 9?

If so, any prevention measures?

Oh my entry still stands right? Or would i need to withdraw?-I hope not it was a pain to make...
