Good job to everyone! I thought this had the toughest competition to date for a compo.

On to the next one! Can't wait, I love these things.

p.s. Thanks for the judge who made the comments about my model, means a lot.

I reckon Jon, Bond1 and Errant should all be banned from compos.

I took my entry to the next level ^^

I had to filter since the camera is crap lol

Here it is, embbeded with a ruby ^^ its taken a good 11 hours to get it to this stage, Its in 5 pieces and was cut from a peice of wood twice the thickness + width, With only a craft knife set, i created this ^^ for the holes i use a drill bit fitted to a handle and manualy done it my thumbs are red-raw lol.

Its a present anyway, so elbow grease is better tan buying something.

'Hard' is a subjective term.. to some modelers making a lego block would be considered 'Hard' to others 'Texturing' a cube is rocket science. The only people who can make one of these competitions 'hard' is the contestants.

Seriously, the next compo is once again going to be 'fun'. The only reason we are extending it over to the end of September is because all of the judges are really busy at the moment and we all missed taking the initiative to begin the new compo. We agreed that 10 days for these compos would not be enough. So we decided to begin the compo mid month and run it through the end of September. Those that follow and participate in the compo will be able to begin this month and in the September newsletter we will 'remind people' that the compo is still running. This will hopefully draw more contestants.

Just 3 more days till the reveal, hold on to your hats this one is gonna turn your computer inside out! LoL

Cheers!

I'm glad there's extra time, I start college in 2 weeks so I'll have more time to get everything settled.

Also: first post with my new laptop! Woo.

I have never let my schooling interfere with my education.

oh i see. i suppose extra time will be nice. plus it will give me time extra time to figure out 3DS Max(bout a 13 month license to test it out. cinema 4D was good but had problems when i tried to do high poly modeling in it.. 250k polys is murder in it hope 3DS holds better)

lol i was messing around with high poly stuff. (arraying and matrix extruding using mograph in cinema 4D gets high poly really quickly...)

Yeah cinema 4D, for all its charms, struggles with high poly stuff.

yea. that's why a lot of the stuff i do i use the hyper nurb you can quickly click and see what it looks like with it on and turn it off. lets you get high poly models will working with low poly.(granted it has its faults in areas though plus nurb weighting doesn't really work very well for me..)

@parsnips
lol yea it can be a pain but i can make your models look amazing.(by the way if your just trying to smooth it out if you right click and go down to the bottom and go to sub divide you can choose to do a hyper nurb sub divide which saves some time or press U then S.

@smart guy
lol the suspense is murder.
