prolly just a RAM problem, but since I can't build it all at once, I'll do the make games from multiple games files folders. It'll be easy and FUN!

and level 5 will just fall into line.

would having a buttload of sounds in the game hog RAM?

I'm unsure. Again, if you want to test it, just delete all of your soundzones and see if it builds properly.

If you build your levels one at a time, email Redeye. A while back I remember him saying that he had found a way of merging levels.

yup. combine the files folder, change the setup, and rename them to levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5

amirite?

most of my sounds are .ogg and involve radio communications between seth and mia (didn't go for a silent protagonist this time around) because I wanted the player to FEEL the personalities of the characters. Mia is supposed to be loud, brash, and slightly obnoxious (she's irish and seth is supposed to be quiet and unassuming. I recorded his sounds and then turned them down so the player doesn't hear him if there's even a little noise. seth never raises his voice.

I think it's great you're having Seth talk. Most games don't do that. Only one I can think of is Republic Commando.

yeah, I posted a thread with a game in showcase. not this game but it uses some of the level design principles (and a dumbed down version of the lighting)

well it's awful slow going now, but it usually gets slow around the end of development where I actually start getting glitches. I may just have to wait for the migration for a more reliable build without a RAM cap. the game may be very short but the levels are either large or detailed, and therefore hated by FPSC's build device. they are also very lightmap intensive.

still, WWC is in progress, but it's in progress outside of FPSC. currently, I need to animate the final (and only ) cutscene to set up for the next episode of WWC- this game turned out very short, so the next one will be much longer and cutscene-laden. I just need a premise to start the story.

If you still have problems building, run fpsc cleaner, build with stock (whatever version you use) and then replace the game in the game folder with your mod. Thats exactly what I did with Purity so I know it works...

Okay guys, they're now in action. this is a full playthrough of the shortest level, level 4. probably the hardest one too.

don't worry WWC fans, even with urban combat, I'm still working on this too

Are you going to upload a demo soon or are you going to release this all at once?

And I just have one question, how did you rig mp 9-10 weapons like that? I have been trying to rig my weapons but I am unable to.

I rigged them, AbdulAhad. He made the gunspec for them to make perfectly aligned ironsights (which is pretty amazing)

when I release this game, I think I'm going to try for a BOTB award. I don't want to have everyone burned out on the game before I even release. I'll wait till the whole game is done.

After watching the vid I am not sure what is it, that makes you think this shoot-em-up of yours has BotB quality.

- there is no ambience lighting, everything looks dull
- the level is completely bare except for giant block buildings and cars.
- enemies are spawning out of thin air behind the players back.
- although you are so proud of your ironsight there is still a crosshair dot visible (and honestly I dont think the ironsight is useful at the distance the enemies are most of the time).
- speaking of enemies they need to be resized, in the vid it looks like you're fighting SWAT-hobbits.

But the good news is, I am not longer asking for a demo

@ zay- would you like to work with a fellow flash developer and animator for these cutscenes? I'd love it.

Quote: "After watching the vid I am not sure what is it, that makes you think this shoot-em-up of yours has BotB quality."

FINALLY someone has some constructive criticism!

Quote: " there is no ambience lighting, everything looks dull"

the whole game is on 0 ambience. I just used it for this map too, It was a design decision that stuck, I find it very useful indoors for my lighting style.

Quote: "the level is completely bare except for giant block buildings and cars."

this was to make it run on something a little less than a crysis computer. anyone can make a really nice map, but it's just sloppy not to optimize it for performance.

Quote: "enemies are spawning out of thin air behind the players back."

look again. the AI is good enough to navigate objects, but there are absolutely no enemies that spawn behind you in the game. if you would like, I will provide the map screens to prove it.

Quote: "speaking of enemies they need to be resized, in the vid it looks like you're fighting SWAT-hobbits."

XD seriously, I know right! it's one of those incredibly easy tasks I just never got around to!

Quote: "But the good news is, I am not longer asking for a demo"

I'm sorry to hear that.

Quote: "although you are so proud of your ironsight there is still a crosshair dot visible (and honestly I dont think the ironsight is useful at the distance the enemies are most of the time)."

I think that if you play this game, you'll find that you'll need the iron sights, because when not aimed, the guns are completely inaccurate.

Storyteller, you're my best friend and my worst enemy. I hate that you don't like my game, and only have bad things to say, but I am so happy that you spoke up and said them, so that they will apply and I will improve. thank you for your comment!

I personally think it is extremely well designed and looks fun to play. The only suggestion I have is some objects that you can crouch behind for cover instead of stand behind.

what a coincidence, that you took the wrong screen

Fact is that in your own vid at 2:00 the player can see, that the area left to the firetruck is empty. But 5 seconds later, once he advenced past the fire truck, two enemies are suddenly standing in the same area shooting.

your witness...

Zay is just amazing with everything... why?

But I just watched the video and must say that it looks cool! Gameplay looks fun and level design nice! The gun retextures are cool, how did you do those? And some critisism. First about the guns:
-When shooting in iron sight with AK-47, you can see inside the gun, but that's not a big thing.
-The guns seem to be all the same, except the look. Correct me if I'm wrong, but to me, they seem to have no difference in features and in gameplay-wise. They just look different. Put guns that have different features, their own pros and cons. Other is more accurate, other is more effective in close range, other reloads faster, other is shoots faster and so on. You get what I am trying to say? Just correct me if I'm wrong.
-The enemies look like midgets... lol.

But other than that, it looks very nice. Keep it up! Can't wait to play it!
