Ok, First let me say Congratulations to all those who entered. I lost more hair and had several of the remainders turn gray while we deliberated the entries.
As you know this time around we wanted to try something different and see how you would do building a scene. The main reason for the scene must be seen compo was we wanted you all to spend some time giving extra thought as to the 'presentation' of your entries. It's all well and done to build a model and just do a simple render, but I hope you all take the time to 'showcase' any future models you enter into these contests. It really makes a difference, as you could see from all the wonderful entries this time around.
Would you like the Results? (a retorical question to be sure.)
Here ya go..
3D Master: Wehtam_
Notes: Wehtam_ took his model a step further and showed us how he pulled together his model and background to make an impressive render of the planetary gun. Great Job!
3D Best Model: Ortu
Notes: Ortu managed to bring a heroic scene to the render and did an excellent job on the dragon and hero models. Nice job, Dragon steaks for supper!
3D Best Texture: Lazerus
Notes: This render has a nice soothing effect, the almost monochromatic scene evokes a sense of wonder and at the same time captures the imagination. Very nice scene, Gratz!
Congratulations to the Winners! Cheers!
P.S. Just as HowDo and Ortu's entries have inspired "The Scene must be Seen" compo, we found another entry this time around that has inspired the next Compo.. (if this keeps up, there will be a new 'secret prize'.. be the entry to inspire the next compo!)
Nackidno's brilliantly simple render of the ring sitting on the pages casting the heart shaped shadow. Excellent example of how something simple works. The next compo will be posted tomorrow. Thanks for the Inspiration Nackidno. Cheers!
