Yikes! I made the first level, but it became quite massive... I quess I'll have to cut it to pieces or something... would be bad if you couldn't play it... I have quite good computer, so I sometimes just go ahead and do, without thinking about the low end machines...

Yeah, Go ahead with the screens, just don't share the story. Just try to keep most of your stuff in private. We have a secret prize for the top 3 also, that's why we kind of want people to keep most of their stuff secret.

I can run Crysis and L4D2 on MAX. I'm sure you'll be fine.

I can run L4D2 on max. Cryis on the other hand I don't think so

It should be fine though. I wouldn't worry about it running bad on my system.

I'm going to try and keep mine secret

So are you the only judge? Because if I'm catering for a higher system an fps of about 30 on mine should be about 50-60 on yours with PB

@ASTEK : Due to some circumstances I won't be competing,you can take my name off the list.I won't be able to finish that game for the deadline anyway.I was enthusiastic about this at first,but then realized I'm neck deep with work and won't finish within the deadline.

for how well you can pull together a story driven game and suck
us into a great sense of depth and plot execution.

Alright, just a quick question...

When you say story based game, you mean a game that tells a story. sooo even if the gameplay is awesome, the story has to be amazing, or does this just mean, you cant just say "Shoot the tourists to clear the bay" or something

Sorry, i'm just a tad confused.

Also..

Looking at the few screenshots posted, just out fo curiosity, who is doing a sci-fi game?

I saw this competition from the newsletter, and it looks interesting.
Im wondering though, no where in the rules does it say it has to be a fpsc made game, even though it is in the fpsc forums. May I use Dbpro?

We are just judging by the best story. Like, after we finish the game we want to be saying "WOW, that was awesome! That had a GREAT story!" How you make the story fit into the game is up to you.

Yeah, sorry guys, this competition is FPSC only. We are thinking of running a DbPro one in the future but currently we don't have the money/time to run two at once.

If its as generic as that, you will probably lose. No offense.

About time I built a decent FPSC game. I've had this story idea playing in my head for some time, about time I started to manifest it. $100 prize money is good incentive.

Considering this competition is based on storytelling and not graphics, I don't think it matters if your using x9 or x10. In all seriousness, recently most of the next-gen games I've played have crap stories and I tend to return them immediately...regardless of how 'good' it is.

But yes, I think if the game is based around story, there should still be some action afoot. For instance, halo tells a good story and is very action packed.

But what I have in mind is,

If a game like HL2 (with an amazing story) went up against say..Mw2 you'd argue that the hl2 story is better but the Mw2 gameplay is better. How would this competition decide on a winner?

Nah, HL was horrible, along with MW...returned to store next day.

Anyway, it's already been stated, they are judging on storytelling not gameplay.
