How could you think he was serious? He basically listed everyone who visits the forum as people who shouldn't be allowed to

I'm 50/50 behind endorsing one or both of them, so if they got together on the same ticket, I'd be 100/0. but only if they'll keep Kiwi on as the Secretary of Unknowable Knowledge, and if they'll promise to feed my pet velociraptor, which I need to leave at the moon base because the laws here on Earth are so redonkulous. For everyone else, you'll have to earn my endorsement with clever uses of photoshop, the same way the Rock/ Dink administration won back in '08 "

There are many things I want to accomplish if I were to be elected. I would like to make a difference. I would like to go the distance. I would like to make all the dollar stores actually sell stuff for only a dollar. I would like to hit it where it counts. I would like to sleep with my secretary. I would like to meet and greet.

I HAVE A DREAM AND THAT DREAM IS THE PEOPLE.

@Jerico: It's true the dollar store doesn't sell things for a dollar... damn commies.

I hope you all have a great day. I have to work today and tomorrow, but I will be around in the evenings to see how things are. You can download my banner (it's attached) if you support me. I think its time you get someone that wants to do something for this forum.

I'm pro-choice and pro-democracy and pro-freedom, among other pro-things. I believe all people have a right to work and a right to not work. I also believe in freedom of expression and the Apollo-way. I am a man of the people, by the people, for the people. Vote Jerico2day, thank you.

So long as it follows the Apollo AUP! Which is basically like saying, freedom of speech.... until it offends someone.

Jerico and OBese together? That's a tough one to compete with.

If I am elected as your president, I promise to do my best to once and for all answer the biggest question that has plagued this forum (among RGT, LLRGT) for many of the early years of its birth: Who really was Asheron?

This is Phaelax, and good night.

Yes! Yes! Exactly! You have hit the nail on the head right there my good sir. If no-one has rights, well then that's equal rights for everyone!

As I'm sure you may have noticed, my plans for world domin... I mean, forum presidency have hit a bit of a wall. I'm going to need an equally racist, hateful, devious vice president who is at the same time easily duped and does not hold grudges. Unfortunately, no one has volunteered as of yet. I assure any potential volunteers that you would be completely protected to the best of my abilities, although you may be publically humiliated to draw attention away from my more violent schemes.
Anyone up for it?

Aww, I was added to the poll! I'm not running again though lol, I've been President for three years and I'm out of interns to... uh... so yeah, new President time! any votes I get should end up going toward whoever I endorse, which I'm struggling to figure out. I'm leaning toward Jerico though because Phaelax would otherwise lose his silver codemaster title, and Jerico would make a really good John Adams to my George Washington.

We should totally have a Presidential debate, but to keep it on the forums, I'll ask a bunch of questions and have everyone answer them here. I need to come up with those questions though, so I'm open to your suggestions!

I don't think you read my post. I'm all for free speech. I'm also for Apollo. I'm for free lunch, free breakfest and free dinner. But if you're poor sometimes you just can't afford a lunch or a breakfest. Therefore if I am elected president I will invite all the people to my house for brunch.

I would run but I refuse to be a puppet of the TGC, making warm and fuzzy speeches while perverting young minds with thoughts of actually accomplishing something or being somebody. The ugly truth is, in the end all who loiter aimlessly in these dark and evil halls end up lobotomized. Go ahead and trade your stinking, rotten soul for fifteen minutes of fame, but I won't be a part of it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some Chinese babies coming over for lunch. I know, I'll be hungry again in a couple of hours.

As president, my first course of action will be to abolish slavery in the north. Each member will receive equal rights, they will also be given a motor boat.

I promise to help re-populate the forums by introducing the females back into the wild.

Unnecessary double posting and/or thread bumping will be punishable by death.

President Rock kept lolcats to an all time low, I will go one step further and keep all overused internet memes at a 0% usage.

One mark of a good leader is the quality of his motor boat. I can say this whole-heartily and unequivocally. I am a master motor boater. With my skills at the helm of this fine county, I will motor boat ourselves into a new age.

Thanks for the cool images Jimmy

I have compiled a report on the levels of Fruit/Vegetable confusion over the last three years, I am shocked. I didn't realize the situation was this serious! Levels have skyrocketed in the last year! If elected, our party's new Fregetable legislation will almost halve fruit/vegetable confusion across the forums! Don't believe me? Look at this graph...

See, that's science!

Also, if you zoom in on the image of that graph and enhance, there are more promising discoveries:

You may also want to zoom in on the other side of the image. You'll get an unique insight into a new book written by Obese87 and myself, "Jerico2day & Obese87 and the Fight Against ComicSans".

It's a subject near and dear to my heart and will be finished by February next year. I hope you all buy 5 copies each to give to your lovers and loved ones for Valentine's day 2012.

Just letting you know Design Runner (future president ) and I (future vice president) will be running.

We may not have been here as long, but it is still a great part of us, so join our cause and fight for our people. No longer shall we be at the mercy of trolls and pirates. NO longer shall we be forced to abide by the tyrannous AUP which has enslaved our very souls. WE WILL BE FREE! OR DIE TRYING!!!

In 2008, Barack Obama became the leader of the free world (that's what them yanks call it) with the Campaign slogan "YES WE CAN."

Then in 2010 a strance creature with fire for hair and shopping bags for earlobes, Julia Gillard managed to get away with saying "YES WE will"....

Well anyway, I can asure you of 1 thing, YES WE PROBABLY PROVIDED THAT YOU GIVE US A CHANCE...CAN MAYBE.

Well that's all, until we meet again my friends.

@Phaelex: I support it however, I think there are ways to fix a users problem by more than just banning. Sure, it is made to prevent spammers etc. but it could maybe be managed. That is what I plan to do. If you all talk about changing everything it is impossible. I say we try to find stuff that is possible for us to do. Such as: get more members involved in contests, conventions etc. and maybe resolve their issues with a mediator so no one goes out with a bad taste in their mouth.

Why choose a candidate that doesn't take anything seriously and promises things that they even know they won't be able to do.

And for those who criticize me having a rhetoric. How can you get anything done if your not organized and know what you plan to do?

I hope that you all vote for me because I plan to work my hardest to ensure each member has a voice.

Time for me to say something:
As your president, I will not sit idly by (well maybe because I am on a computer), but instead be pro active in the forums policies. I have witnessed at least 5 pirates here on the forums this year alone. This must be stopped. It's time to stop the spread of n00b language, and with my campaign we aim to do this. So, YES WE PROBABLY PROVIDED THAT YOU GIVE US A CHANCE...CAN MAYBE.

I've been a contestant in the last two, among some of the first DB contest and challenges. How many have you participated in prior to running in the election? Hmmmm? I have roots here! And with 8 years of Apollo experience, with 4 more prior to that on the earlier forums, you can count on me to always be here! How long do you plan to stick around? Can we really count on that? Do we want to?

Prehaps a pirate re-education program but actually.

Maybe new users should have to pass a small one page test before they post their first thread, with a quick rundown of the rules which they'll have to acknowledge before posting.

Because the pirates actually give other pirates (the consumer pirates) a window of opportunity to download say the halo spartans for fpsc. We should have a no tolerance policy to anyone uploading and sharing files which are quite obviously illegal. This could be quite easy to accomplish and since quite a few moderators are leaving we could have a "bounty hunter," a moderator who specialises in dealing with pirates.

Well maybe if you would visit other forums from now and then you will see that I have been very active. I have participated in I think only one contest, but I have also HELD a contest. The contest was held for FPSC users and it went fairly well. I have experience managing and completing a contest in which I finished everything I promised to the contestants.

And our president should not down other members due to their lack of talent or participation in certain things. Such as you have. I do not believe in downing other candidates or making them feel less than they actually are. Each person here is unique in their own aspect and we can all learn from each other.

You also stated that I have been here a shorter time than you have... true. However, if for any reason I don't believe that I can complete my office without any distractions or interruptions than I will gladly step down.

I believe that each member deserves the right to have a voice in the forum, from noobs to experienced members every person should be counted equally. We shouldn't judge each other by the amount of years we have been here or how talented we are. We should judge each other on our motivation, work ethic, and a desire to do better.

I will try my hardest to make everyone feel like they belong to this forum no matter what.

One of my goals is just to be one of the easy going mods, if you know what I mean. If I had to lock a thread, for example, they would hopefully know why it happened and understand that, hopefully without piling up hate against TGC mods and the community in general. Hopefully I can help the TGC userbase in general understand the mods, and the president, more as friends willing to help and not just insane thread-locking aardvarks. (not saying any mods ARE like that, but people might misunderstand it as that).

On much more improtant matters, I need a vice president to help me to decide what recipe the FREE CAKE should be and whether or not there should be flaming arrows with it.

Phaelax, could you put my name in the dbcodecorner preliminary polls? Are we allowed to vote for ourselves?

This sig can be yours, too!

I wasn't, my point was having a very active member with a history of participation be the president. My website has also cataloged nearly all DB challenges.

And I wouldn't attack other members, only those who run against me. (it's a presidential race, expect some flak!)

Quote: "Maybe new users should have to pass a small one page test before they post their first thread"

I would have to disagree with that. I know what it's like joining a forum the first time and typically first time users are joining at that particular moment because they have a question. Rather than make them jump through a bunch of hoops before posting a simple question, let them post quickly but perhaps restrict their initial postings to only the newcomers board for the first 10 or whatever.

Now this is a good campaign debate

Hey Phaelax, could you add design runner to the poll, with me as his other guy

edit: Some stuff about Design Runner

I think he'd make as good leader for you folks because of the unquestionable generousity he has shown over the many months he has been here.
For example
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=183382&b=24&p=0
and he's always available to help you out on fps files, where he quickly earned his place as an administrator
http://fps-files.com/page.php?9

although that pretty much all sounds like a load of rubbish, I'm doing my best to be honest

This just in: Obese87 IS NOT the pilsbury dough boy. He is not a person, either. He is, in fact, a snail, and as we all know, snails cannot be trusted with decision making.

I'm sorry to disappoint you all with this startling news.

[edit]
Also, has anyone noticed that phalaex - the one who is hosting the preliminary polls - has the most votes? COINCIDENCE? I think so!

What I'd like to know, is what you'd bring to the table in terms of enhancing the forum and bettering the community, as well as evidence of your reliability and trustworthiness.

At the moment outdoor gamer seems to be most serious about this, however, phaelax has been on these forums for almost a decade and is obviously loyal to them.

I think you guys need proper statements of what you intend to do and how you're going to achieve them.

Choosing the right president could increase how awesome these forums are tenfold, so I'd like to make the most informed decision possible, as I'm sure others would too.

@Phaelex: Very understandable.

@PlanetaryFunk: Good Idea. I will when I return this evening.

The only reason I'm running is to make a difference for these forums. It's not for the title or the banner. It's so I can maybe encourage new members and old to pursue what they want to accomplish. Phaelex, yes you do have more years than me and you probably do have more experience with the software. However, I have yet to see a point when you actually tell us what you plan to do for these forums. Sure having a little bit of fun doesn't hurt, but if you don't know how to stop and actually plan something out you will fail from the start. Yes I know you have a site with pretty much all DB challenges. I have seen it. But shouldn't we do more than just concentrate on one piece of the forum. I'm not saying that I'm a perfect little angel about this, but if elected I won't leave certain parts of the forum out of anything because they are pictured as "noobs" etc. I have already done an interview and put it on my site so some of our members can have some exposure online. This election is so much bigger than us. We will be representing a huge amount of people and I think they would like to not feel left out.

OutdoorGamer
