Quote: "You know what Jeku?? If he had of started a new thread on that patent thing, you would have said "oh no, your clogging the forums up!" and locked that thread! He is merely doing the best he can. Please dont ban him. Hes a nice guy and really doesnt deserve it. And does it say anywhere at all in the AUP he cant do this?? No, it doesnt!! If it is such an issue, somehow or another get the threads to automatically lock after a shorter time period! Also, you (or at least someone) said as long as it was constructive go ahead and bump it. His post on the patent thread WAS constructive and you STILL get mad at him! Unbelievable! What more do you want???"
This is the same reason why we don't let users double post. The pair of you have failed to see the bigger picture here.
Okay, if one person bumps a few old threads in Geek Culture, its mildly irritating.
If one user is allowed to bump an old thread, then surely all users can do so. Then we get into a situation where everyone is bumping up old threads willy nilly.
How about a new rule, everyone can just do what the hell they want.
If its not in the AUP, just go for it. No limits on signature sizes, bump as many threads as you want, just bump threads without adding anything constructive (that's not in the AUP) why not create 3 threads on the same subject in a row? Thats not in the AUP either. Just go crazy guys, Dark Basic Dude said its okay! As long as you aren't breaking the AUP, then thats fine by us! /sarcasm
If either of you actually read the AUP fully, then you'll know that we are well within our right to enforce the rules of the AUP and generally accepted "netiquette" standards.
I'm sick of people with authority issues constantly fighting our actions. We don't do the things we do to be dicks, we are trying run a forum. If we've warned, slapped, banned someone or locked a thread, then we've probably done it for the good of the whole forum, not to annoy you.

MrValentine - You are obviously a nice guy, but you got slapped for ignoring a warning. I know you may want to catch up on all the threads you missed, but surely you can see how irritating it could be for the people who have just made threads. Not only that, but if everybody started doing the same, then things would start to get out of control.

Dark Basic Dude - Don't stir up crap. What went on was between Jeku and MrValentine, intervening will only make things worse and possibly end up in you getting moderated.
