Thanks so much! Right now I'm backing up my Files folder (all of what I need, Excluding stuff I don't) then I'm going to do a fresh install so it could be a while til I can see it myself.

@VaMpIr3

Here is the youtube link. Be sure and select 720p HD. Then select full screen. This is the only way I can see it and barely. You have to look hard.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4reghM7Isz0

Edit:

It is much cleaner in-game rather than youtube. I actually uploaded this from a compressed video so I think I will try uploading from an uncompressed. Maybe I can get 1024p out of it.

VaMpIr3, do you really live on the Dead Island?

@F l a t l a n d e r
Thanks for uploading it, No offense to bond1 as I'm sure it looks a lot better in-game than on youtube, Because on youtube in 720 it looks like it's just a bad quality video =(

And yeah, I'll be right back there's someone knocking on the door.

This is why Bond1 didn't want to try and show this in an example video. As I said, and I guarantee, it looks much better in-game.

It took over 35 minutes to upload an uncompressed video. Unfortunately it is too dark. And I still can't get 1024p available. I've seen some videos on youtube that offer that resolution. I wonder how they were able to get it. Oh well. I deleted it because you can't see it.

Ok guys, to cut it short:

I get the error on any map I created before. And I have to ad that this exe is drastically changing the memory system. The levels I`m talkign about have consumed around 1800-1900 MB (htey were maxed out), now it says only 900 - 1100 are used.

I have the compile made by doomster.

Any idea?

PS: SMALL Levels built new from scratch seem to work.

This is a pretty neat feature you got there, Bond1. I look forward to use the motionsickness.fx Shader in combat situations.

Best wishes,

@Ertlov

Run FPS Creator Cleaner to remove all the old files and run this new exe with the Post Processing trigger zones and any maps you made earlier should work perfectly.

Worked for me

@Terrornation:

Didn`t work.

Ok, just to sort things out:

1. Can anyone give me a compiled version from bonds latest updates (the one with the check flag and MP52 fix) ?

2. Do I have to have installed RPG Mod previously to using this one?

3. My FPSC shows Version 1.18.017 on running, is this correct?

Fact is: New & smaller levels with this neat stuff included work fine.
My old ones, including the "Into the Dark" scariest game level DON`t work - the same crash as mentioned so often here. THe level builds fine, initialises (I even hear the first second of voice overs upon a blue screen) - then the missing stuff crash

It works very well with Bond1's Metro Theatre and that is not a small level.

v1.118.017 is the correct vanilla version. I will soon have RPGmod's newest version that includes these new features (through r471). You can swap RPGmod in and out with the vanilla v1.18. Rather than using the beta version of 1.118.017 did you do the actual install of the official version? Watch for my "RPGmod - Flatlander will drop support" for the last version I will be releasing.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here, but I keep getting a "Could not determine parameter type of 'joystick information(0)' at line 3143" error when I try compiling the new source.

You have to update DBP to the newest update and set it up accordingly to the Read Me provided with the 7.5 extras.

LO! I actually realized that was my problem just a few seconds ago. Thanks!

Also - Thanks for posting a built EXE. Even using 7.5 with the 7.5 extras, it won't compile for me... Probably because the 7.5 extras compiler folder is completely missing the required "plugins-user" folder.

No, you don't need to purchase either of those. There special dll's just for FPSC that are provided by Lee that are free.

I'm not sure how they are but I'm sure Lee would let me give them to you if I can't find them as an official download from Lee.

Doomster, help.

Also, anybody else interested in compiling themselves make sure that all of those dll's are up to date.

Soooo good!

I know you've stated in the past that you've no interest in getting into x10 shaders but if you would have any interest in doing it for pay, please email me. Also, any work I would pay you to do, I would give away for free to the community.

Regardless, fantastic work as always. You breathe so much life into this community...and it's really been needing a boost lately. Thank you for everything you do.

Also thanks Doomster for the .exe download

I have taken the new download, and hurray - it works! At least in the beginning. Levels build and start properly, the effects are working, but it lags heavilly even on my monster machines and after 10 - 30 seconds it crashes.

Are you sure you've using the command correctly, and not stuck in a constant load/reload cycle? Take a look at the included trigger zone scripts for correct usage.

Because fullscreen shaders, unlike object shaders, have a fixed performance cost that isn't affected by the size of the level or number of objects on-screen.

My laptop, which is not a monster machine, has a Geforce GTX 260M, and runs all the effects at 60fps.

Well I'll just have to wait and see if anyone else can reproduce the crashes you're having. I can't reproduce here - I've torture tested the command with tons of trigger zones for all the effects, toggling on and off nightvision, etc. In fact most of the effects use less instructions than the original bloom shader.

Beware, Doomster's zip contains the wrong file for that script.

You can't right click to download from the google code site - you have to use guest checkout to get the files using SVN: http://code.google.com/p/fpscreatorengine/source/checkout. Lee posted a tutorial in a previous newsletter.

You can click on the link to copy and paste the script though: http://code.google.com/p/fpscreatorengine/source/browse/trunk/scriptbank/posteffects/nightvision.fpi

Hey bond, Howcome when I try to compile the FPSC-Game.dba in the code.google.com's SVN Checkout, It makes a 161-468kb file named FPSC-Game.exe, Which is way too small, And in my AppData\Local\Temp folder? :S

Not sure then, you're sure opening the right project in the editor - FSPC-game.DBPRO. Compiled it should be 17.4MB in size. You have all the required .ddl's?

No problems on my Desktop computer but I'll check to see what happens on my laptop. I have one other computer I can test it on as well.

EDIT:

Regarding how I get all the updates: I don't use checkout, I copy and paste everything. As far as EXE and DLL files, you will see the following message when you click on the file:

This file is not plain text (only UTF-8 and Latin-1 text encodings are currently supported).

On the right side of the window is "File Info." Click on "View raw file" and you will then get a download dialog box.

Got everything working here fine as i figured out something REALLY disturbing: The crashes only ocurr when I have my personal version of the compass inside. This is a little annoying, as my WXG compass rework contains also the code for my damage HUD system, but most of all I cannot figure out why the hell it is so.

Bond, can you take a look?

Congrats to everyone on finding bug fixes!

But where can we get the shaders? I want to join in on the fun too.

@Jaden Korr: Hey! You're new here! Welcome to the forums!

As my previous question implies, I haven't been able to experiment with the shaders and scripting them, but I am actually unsure whether or not you can have two, although it would be nice. The FPI command "SETPOSTEFFECT=X" changes the current effect to the one specified in the "X" field, as I understand. There might be a way to script it to get two to work, but I am not sure. I could see the uses of two though... "night vision" and "motion sickness" would work great together if the player was a soldier in combat after dark and was getting bashed in the head by a badguy from behind. Nice idea!

Jaden Korr... where have I heard that name before?

Anyway, welcome to the forums!

sic1ne,

If you're concerned about damage to your current FPSC state, then go ahead and make a copy of the FPS Creator folder as a Backup. Otherwise, just rename the current exe to exe.old and then allow the new files to install/overwrite anything they want to. To revert back, just delete the new exe and rename the old exe.old back to .exe

Sorry guys I've been at work so I'm trying to get caught up here.

In short, no you can't use the command to have two effects at the same time - the command first clears the current effect before loading the next.

BUT - it is possible to combine two (or more!) effects into a single shader. You would need to know some basic HLSL to do this, Dark Goblin has done this with some of my shaders. As much as I'd like to, I just don't have time to respond to every request to combine the shaders, there are simply too many combinations possible. But, if you learn a little HLSL, or find someone on the forums who is proficient, then yes, limitless combinations are possible!

Google HLSL and you will find a lot of hits regarding references and tutorials. I plan on figuring this out myself so if I find some good tutorials I'll post them in a separate thread.

Do I need to download anything else besides the scripts and the effects? Because nothing happens when I put the script in the trigger zone. Im sure I put everything in the right spot.
