this shot looks really impressive. very natural bloom effect, nice lensflare-decal, but i cant imagine how this effect should work with a decal? lens flare depends on position of the cam and sun-lightsource. how do you get it so its always in the right position?

Should I give away my secrets so easy?

Well, yes, as I have gained so much from others here, I can`t keep it locked up:

"Decal" is perhaps the wrong word. it`s a fullscreen overlay that is changed via a compass script reading out the PlrAngel variable.

Yes, it`s really that easy...

Here one more outdoor shot. Next update will be on combat system, as it will slightly differ from usual FPSC combat, too.

Hi all, we will start with Closed "Level-Complete-Alpha" testing on the 15ht of June.

I don`t call that a Betatest, because the testers will have the chance to not only find bugs and glitches, but also to add elements to the gameplay and level design (if reasonable).

From the past Messages and thread replies, I have right now Wolf and Storyteller on my list.

Anyone else willing to participate?

I like the way you use whats available to you and always make it your own. Your level design is second to none around these parts, nice work.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

Well...

...thanks. You know that I´m one of those idiots who buys model packs even if he needs only one of the assets and still will have to retexture it. 1-2 Modellers are always doing exclusive stuff for my creations, and here it`s the same. Sometimes 3 months of paying a modeller leaves me with 25 modells, 3 of the them put to use. I have right now around 280 GB of FPSC-Assets, the "main core" I work with is around 35GB.

The clever selection and composing something otu of it is something I enjoy.

I know that I havent rolfys 3d modelling / baking / integrating to FPSC skills, nor will I ever have.

I know I have not the artistry in terms of set design like Wolf, noone beats him on that.

I know I have not the gameplay design wualities of..

...urm...

OK, I have to admit I know NO FPSC gameplay designer that is standing out that heavy, the onyl games I found really somewhat remarkable (although lacking heavily on tech side) were the Principle of Mars games.

I just try to roll out the main Idea I have before starting ANY project with the stuff I have at hands or can create or have created without lacking too much in any of the categories.

And thanks to my shameful work as producer for the big soulless evil commercial game industry I have the necessary time and money to keep going on an FPSC project for years.

Hi Ertlov, i've liked very much your work during these years .. you have always interpreted FPSC in the right way. Have you thought to put Into the Dark on Steam Greenlight this summer ? Do you think it would be a good idea ?

Nope. I did at - least untill 2009 - almost everything wrong that was possible, but i alwas learned my share for the next project.

Quote: "Have you thought to put Into the Dark on Steam Greenlight this summer ?"

Yes, of course I have thought about that. I have already some nice distribution agreements covering almost all parts of the western gaming world, but steam or steam greenlight would be a great addition. Still i prefer classic retail with cool DVD boxes, printed manuals and small gifts inside.

Quote: " Do you think it would be a good idea ?
"

It would, although I`m a little bit sceptic about the Project itself. Not about the intention, but I know that already MANY publishers get their work drones into steams community as seleeper agents prepared to vote the next low-budgeted game up that this publisher will put on Greenlight as "indie".

I've heard the same thing from more than one person.. but you know .. Steam it's a great medium anyway and steam's users are not so dumb .

Having digged through 24 beta feedbacks from 8 different levels so far, still a huge load of work for us to do *sigh*

However, thank you very much to all of who contributed with their feedback and now even offered their help on scripting, modelling and texture jobs.

@ertlov- mind If I use a screenshot of your project in my newest tutorial? I can't promise that it will be portrayed in a positive light, but I can promise that it will be for the benefit of the community, and most certainly a learning experience for us all. A lesson that, judging by your newer pics, you've already learned.

As some of our team and I were among the victims of the tornado at the mediveal festival in Pöchlarn, we will have one or two weeks delay in completing the game. We got only minor injuries, but a very close friend is right now fighting for his life in hospital, a visitor got killed. Please understand that I`ll be roaming these boards far less frequently for the nex days.
