Whoops. Been gone for awhile.. Look at my crappy trophy...

Heh heh... Not really. I won it this weekend for taking a test and making top in my state, though I would've won for my project, if I hadn't one this one.

I'm still around just. And we've taken a little holiday too. Even though I'm away for an extended weekend I'll still come and keep up with these forums.

Congrats! I know it's only Alabama*, but still, good one!

*I only kid. I'm sure you worked hard and am sure you're not the only smart person in Alabama.

Don't underestimate us! lol, We have one of the primary NASA spaceports AND the Saturn V rocket in Huntsville Space Center. Heck, one of the elementary schools competing had robotics, programming, and multimedia teams! (Level 1)
We HAD a robotics team that had won at the area competition, but due to some 'circumstances' they were unable to compete at state.
So yeah, there are a great many in Bama who are quite technology adept.
But to be honest, I had no idea I was going to win that. That was the LAST thing I thought I'd win. The test was mainly based off of Networking and Databases, meaning most of the questions were based off of MySQL. I have never studied MySQL, or anything to do with networking and databases at all, throughout my entire life. I guessed on most of the questions... It escapes me on how I could have possibly won for that...

It might be down to you having done programming and a lot of the answers you might have given probably seemed pretty logical. How you handle data in a piece of code doesn't have to be all that different from how you handle it in a database. I've never tried doing MySQL, but I played with DarkData (another database system) and found it's methods weren't all that different to how I manage variables. So maybe your geekishness here is paying off.

You might be surprised how much you can wing something. I remember at school, Physics was my worst science, I didn't think I was any good at understanding it properly, my 'revision' for my exam consisted of 10 minutes on the bus journey to school. I sat my GCSE exam, I found it easy as pie and I got an A. Not necessarily the highest mark in the county, but still I was pretty surprised. Turned out it was Chemistry that held me back.

Not at all. Lol I went through that entire test with the word "Fail" implanted in my mind. My brain was flat when I got finished lol. I don't even remember any of the questions. But as you said, it could just be my past experiences with programming that helped me through it and I just don't know it... Either way, I got a trophy for it! First place too. Hehe, I was the only one from my school at the state competition, so I represented my entire school by winning!
