Indeed it was! One thing I particularly enjoyed was blackjack. It's weighted on the side of the player so if you know the rules and you know the odds, you can stack up some great cash with a little bit of luck!

But even with that, this game is *tough*

Guy reminded me of this game at work last week. It was a really awesome game, similar principle to Pokémon, but awesome for different reasons. It was a lot of fun to play as well. Fun fact, the guy who did the art work also has done some of the art work for Studio Ghibli, which makes perfect sense when you watch the anime opening.

SEPP!

We need to have some beers together, that game was so much better than Poke'U'Mon for me!

I knew I did not even need to see the previews or name of the videos you posted while reading the email...

But I did not know the art was done by someone from Ghibli!!!!!!!

Sadly I never finished it was a great game... I moved abroad while I was mid game and then never got to continue it... but I have never forgotten about it since...

There are so many great PSOne classics I wish they were digitally released to PC!

I do however know they have them on the PSN, but I doubt I will buy one of the Android driven Tablets nor a PS3 just to play them...

Ever played Kagero: Deception II? [I have not played one or three+]
Series Wiki

I wonder if there is a way to get in touch with old IP holders and 'Asking' them if a remake could be developed by whomever is up for the challenge... I have been thinking this for several years now... [Alternatively they could crowd fund themselves... but I think pure passion will see the remakes just as well]

We see such creativity far and few in-between these days... what ever happened to creative gameplay?, but I sense that it will be back, even EA and Ubi-Dubi are shaking up lately... Heck even that guy Tim Schafer? is keen to get Point and Click adventures back in the loop... and another project on KS is showing that the PC gaming world is as alive as ever to silly console boys [Developers] of today...

Ever since having my first PC back in 1998, I have never gone back... aside from the PSOne not much else has ever come close to PC gaming... [If you get what I mean - indeed there were other great games on other consoles but it seems as though all potential creativity was used and ended with the PSOne... future games were based on Buck for the Bang... if you follow...]

The first Jade Cocoon was one of the best games I've ever played. It's such a shame the second was awful.

The very first 3d game I played was Mercenary on the Commodore 64, wireframe all over with very little textures lol. Someone mentioned Zelda and funnily enough I am playing Zelda: Skyward sword, right now on the Wii, never touched the Wii till now and enjoying every second of it. Man this is a long ass game
The graphics and cutscenes/gameplay (a lot of harp playing and dancing) are a little gay but its for big kids like me....right?

Speaking of.... crap i dont have a TV either. Well i have this ancient panasonic from 1980s back when TVs were made in singapore and japan, but this thing is so old its colors are all dim and bluish. If i am gonna buy a PS1 ill need a good tv to go with it as well.

i was looking at philips plasma TVs, they have been around for a long time so all the issues with plasmas like burnins have been resolved, they have better colors and awesome image quality and they are cheaper than equivalent LCD/LED screens. Infact i was over my aunts house the other day and she has a plasma, she was watching an old soviet movie from 1960s and on the tv and the picture quality looked as if the movie was made in the last decade or so instead of 1960s.

ok i just discovered a very interesting long forgotten gem in the darkest corners of my harddrives
h

Command & Conquer Renegade released in 2001. the graphics are equivalent to the original half life from 1998 but this game has the amount of action and dynamic gameplay of a modern FPS game. Like olf FPS games other than the enemies and maybe an occasional action sequence in the background nothing around you really moves. This game, you constantly have explosions gunships both ally and enemy and there is constantly stuff happening all around you like in any modern FPS game. I am playing this right now and i am totally loving it!

There are so many good old games I love with a passion.

Neverwinter Nights. (never really played 2)
Original Baulders Gate, which I played like no tomorrow as a young lad. I tried to get into the enhanced edition but felt I couldn't feel the flare I felt back when I was young.
Final Fantasy VII. Admittedly, my only Final Fantasy game that I finished, and the only one I loved.
Daggerfall, need I explain more? The Elder Scrolls franchise has always been dear to me.
Monkey Island, I LOVED the Secrets of Monkey Island when I was little. I just picked up the special edition on Steam for 3 bucks along with the second one, and am loving it.
Pitfall: A Mayan Adventure, just saying this cause I remember playing it A LOT when I was young.

So much more to post, but I shall restrain.

I love Neverwinter Nights, though I've not played the 2nd either. I found my expansion packs recently but couldn't find the original game disk and ended up buying it off of GOG.com. It runs just fine in Windows 8, though it doesn't seem to like Intel GMA, but works perfectly off of my gaming laptop.

This is one I keep coming back to. Point and click adventures are a lot of fun, wish I could see more of them these days. Though I know a new Broken Sword is coming out and it's going to try and remain true to the original 2.

Here's another game I played as a kid, Phantasy Star II, though it's not really forgotten, my friend is a huge Phantasy Star fan, so it's hard for me to forget it.

Also, what about Vagrant Story?

And Carmageddon? And they say video games are too violent?

I've seen a few people mention neverwinter nights. It came out in 2002, I don't think that game is nearly old enough yet to count as long forgotten.

Let's not forget Redneck Rampage!

Try this for a long forgotten game: Mappy. Had a brief moment's spotlight and then dissappeared to exist only in the odd reference here and there.
It was a pretty tough game and getting a perfect on the bonus levels was infuriating. I dunno if it ever had an ending because I gave up on it (I wasn't keen on those "helpless protagonist" games as a kid. I was more into "shoot everything with spaceships and robots").

no. They are better - I was amazed by the graphics when I got around to play renegade as a kid, not by HLs graphics....

Theyre better - a lot.

/^ scratch that, WHY DO I REMEMBER IT BEING BETTER

And its a great game - not at all sure why it was so bashed :/

Rampage - Did you ever play Xenogears or Final Fantasy Tactics[PSOne version]

Anybody remember Tenchu? or even Klonoa? Pandemonium was so well put together, and that Fifth Element game was like wow... I heard they may be making a new one...

Here is another little gem of a game guys, not sure if it was mentioned already but...

Pharaoh + Cleopatra

In particular Pharaoh! I never had the full game as it was always a bit pricey, as it still is, but well deservedly so!

Anybody else remember long 48 hour stints playing the demo? >.<

I loved Eternal Darkness on the GameCube.

In fact, I loved it so much I've started playing it again! I loved how the sanity effects used in the game not only affect how the game is played, but it trys to trick the player by using non game effects too.

See the below vide for a look at all of the various sanity effects.

I remember playing that around a friend's, despite knowing the game's gimmick, I still reached for the remote. Some of the glitches seem real, and the save game one is just plain mean. Though unfortunately, the effect wears off once you get used to it, but it was a brilliant idea for a horror game.

Setting people on fire with a taser was my favourite thing!

A couple of others, though I only had the demos for them.

Nightmare Creatures! I only just noticed Samuel Pepys is mentioned in the intro, he went to a school in my town, though a few hundred years before my time. There's a pub named after him!

The demo terrified me as a kid, but I loved it.

40 Winks as well.

Medievil, but that was rereleased on PSP, so prolly less forgotten.

And why not Evil Twin? That was a really good platformer, though dark.

Come to think of it, it's a little like American McGee's Alice, I recently bought the sequel to that, though not had a chance to properly play it through.
