Quite a few months, maybe even a year ago I ran a minecraft server and opened it up to the TGC community. We had a good run and a lot of community memebers turned up.

Giving it another shot, this time it's completely vanilla - no mods or plugins.

Here's a little paste from my advert topic:



It's whitelisted this time - so please post your in game name either on the MC forum or here (I'll try to check here as often as I can)

We had a great time last time and I learned a lot about server hosting. This time its the real deal and we will be around for a long time. Take a break from developing and come chill out for a bit.

Can we have an agreement that we don't all disappear to the furthest corners of the map? Defeats the point of multiplayer when people do that.

All added up to this point -

Map is limited to 20kx20k, in a circle, exactly 10k out in any direction from the spawn cube to the edge. It's an extremely large limit but a limit that has to be in place to save HD space, it keeps us nicely on 15gb (Server backs up every night)

I allow griefing, pvp etc as I think its a valuable part of MC that shouldn't be removed. This is why people tend to run off and hide. That being said there are at least three large communities on it at the moment.

Maybe TGC can make their own

Sorry guys, I found two dungeons that had pretty decent loot (horse armour, saddles and an enchantment book) but I got killed because I was running around with no armour on. I was looking for iron! Iron! I never wanted to find a dungeon but I got greedy and I took it and now it's gone! Gone forever! Waaaaah! *ehem*

Aw, it't not a Chocolate or Strawberry Minecraft server? Just vanilla?

I kid, I generally prefer not to play with mods, exception being Optifine. If you wanna, add 'minecdude' and I might just get on some time!

Edit: as for finding horse armour - it's a rare item on the server. All the chunks are pre loaded and a border set so no new dungeons are generated. Look after it indeed. (Same with blaze spawners - don't pop them!)

Hey, anyone on TGC who is planning on playing on this server... Let's all get together to build a community TGC base. I've found a nice partially floating island very close to the spawn.



The plan is to remove the natural connection to the ground so it becomes a true floating island. Then, I'm planning on constructing walls around the entire property to create a gated city. The island has enough room for everyone to build their own houses, streets, all that. It'll have entrances to the city connecting from the other nearby floating islands. The whole thing is pretty close to spawn, but there are a few ways we can protect our supplies. The city supply rooms and headquarters will be deep underground, accessable only by members of the city. For the style, I'm going to model the walls after the Arena that other members of the server are building.

If anyone's interested, this thread is probably the best place to discuss things.

It appears I have been banned off the server just now.

I will admit one thing, I did have over 10 diamonds in my inventory, but I still don't know why I have been banned. Can ToffeeMouse please explain why?

We had approximately 40 diamonds but they were all obtained legitimately, and you weren't even the one who mined most of them. I have no idea why you were banned.

Yeah, I took some from the chest I believe, and then I mined some. I can see the reason for concern here but I can assure that there was no foul play involved.

I went on the server and someone said Dark Frager (hinciul123) was banned because an admin had proof he was xraying. I can vouch for him, because for the entire time that we've been on the server we have been working on our tower project. It's entirely possible there has been a confusion, because while I know he's a reliable person, we've had 4 or 5 other people help us with the construction that seemed less trustworthy. I'm hoping to know which admin banned him and if the proof is in the form of tunnels in our building, that could easily have been someone else.

That's really strange. I can see why such and accusation could be made, but on the other hand, I don't use such mods. If I could see what kind of proof there is on this I would be happy to "analyse" it but I can guarantee that I didn't use xray.

Whilst Invisible I followed Hinciul123 for 20 minutes watching him run down a 1x2 tunnel stopping to mine branches directly to diamond as he went along. Every time a player mines diamond it sends a message to the administrators. I couldn't see the screen for the amount of diamond Hinciul was mining in a short amount of time - went to investigate and that was the result.

We have been doing this a very long time and I can guarantee no one is banned in error. We spend a lot of time observing, and if there is a single ounce of doubt no action is taken.

It may be my fault for not making the rules of the server clear, we usually recruit from the main MC forum page and send a message to everyone who's accepted. I will paste them here so everyone knows the deal:

However you do it, client modification, in game glitch or by using a transparent texture pack - it's not allowed here.

Heh, the old laptop here could handle older versions of Minecraft decently, but recently the newer version past the official release have been giving me some trouble. Hopefully I can look past it and try to get in on some of this action.

I probably won't play much if my computer lags the game a lot, but I'd at least like to give it a try and check out the server.

I got really addicted today, so much to build! Here is a screenshot tour:

I demolished the little stone hut and laid out a dirt boundary for where I think the base should go, I'm thinking of it being something like a grand manor, or a castle, but that's definitely a team project.

The valley

I relocated the wheat farm to here because it was getting too big (and it looks cool). I would like to build a peasants village down in the valley.

Try looking into "optifine", its a modification aimed at increasing visuals whilst at the same time increasing FPS. I don't use it myself but some of the players do that otherwise wouldn't be able to move for lag.

Well, I guess there is no hiding it:

I did use xray on your server. Of course I did read the rules and I didn't expect them to be different than on other servers (in this case no xray of course) running down that mine and branching straight into diamonds could have been luck, but I admit that this time of course it was not.

Well, I guess this is what you get for being greedy. (I died before yesterday just as I went to sleep and forgot to pick up my stuff, so I got kinda annoyed) I hope this serves a warning to anyone else.

I apologize.
